HELP WITH THESIS: The Great Depression and 1920's?
Alright, so I need to write my final term paper on the 1920's in America. I have decided to focus my thesis on the great depression because most of it took place in the early 30's and with this restriction I am pretty much forced to write it on the causes of the depression. Keep in mind that this thesis will be for a freshman college writing level. Thanks for your time!
So firstly, you will need to divide up your paper and you will need to talk about various things within the Great Depression. You can tie the 1920s in there nicely because you can talk about how the 1920s led to the Great Depression. Specifially, you will need to talk about the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and how this affected businesses. Also, you will have to talk about how World War II either worsened or made the depression better. There are many ways you can target this paper. So, this is how I think it should be structured:
First Section:
Introduction - What happened in the 1920s that raised such prominence? What will you look at in the Great Depression?
(Don't forget to come up with a good thesis statement that will tie these two areas together)
Second Section:
Part 1 - The Early 1920s
- How life was before the Great Depression
- Events that occurred that caused the Great Depression to begin
Part 2 - The Stock Market Crash
- This is an important section, and this should be explored in great detail.
Part 3 - The End of the 1920s, The Beginning of The Depression
Third Section:
Part 1 - The Great Depression - Look at Government Policies that were formed to aid those in need, how the Government responded
Part 2 - The Impact WWII had on the Great Depression
Part 3 - The ending of the Great Depression and how it resolved
Fourth Section:
Conclusion - Tie all of your points together nicely in a concluding paragraph, don't forget to restate your thesis in different words.
Good luck with the project!
