How to overcome stress addiction?

I recently had the epiphany that I NEED stress in my life, and I think it's really just a distraction from how I would feel if I wasn't stressed out absolutely all the time. I don't think any stress relief techniques would be effective for me since I think I resort to stress for relief from underlying issues.

I'm going to see a doctor to be prescribed anti-depressants and/or anti-anxiety medications. Has anyone had anyone had any similar experiences with this, and if so, what helped?

Sometimes if you keep stressed and in demand you do not have to face underlying issues, and you do not have to focus on how you feel. It is indeed a coping mechanism for many people. They are frightened to slow down and relax for fear of what they may have to feel or face.

Try to identify what issues you may have to deal with, and then decide whether you will face them or remain busy and stressed.
