Caffeine, Health and Recovery

Anyone in recovery desires several things. You want to remain free of the drug you had been using and you want to alleviate the negative physical and emotional conditions that were created by that addiction. Hopefully, you also want to lead a healthier life in general. In order to move along a new path in life in which you are becoming and staying healthier, you must not only stay free of your previous substance abuse, but you should live in a more wholesome manner, one that is not just, not unhealthy, but one that actively promotes good health. One important way to do this is to detoxify your body and keep it free of all harmful, toxic substances. To do this, you ought to eliminate certain habits to avoid these other substances, in addition to remaining free of the drug you were abusing. For this reason, knowledge of the effects of various foods and chemicals is essential to being able to find and stay on the path that leads you to better and better health.

Sometimes sociological conditions and peer influences can distort ones view of the real situation. A good example of this was cigarette smoking. Older movies are a good indication of the social norms at the time. Not only did most people start smoking in social situations, but the person who did not smoke was considered not really as much a part of the social group. Of course, now most people are fully aware that not only is nicotine very addicting, but the intake of the toxic smoke is extremely harmful and unwise, and it is morally wrong to make those around you inhale toxic second hand smoke. Today, things are different and it is the person who wants to smoke, who is a bit of an outsider, and who often finds themselves literally outside, when they have to smoke in another location, like outside a restaurant or even outside an apartment where they are a visitor.

Today, caffeine is an accepted drug, just like nicotine was many years ago. In fact, caffeine is the most widely used drug in the world. Some may feel that it is probably not as harmful as the toxic smoke that went along with nicotine addiction and cigarette smoking. Nevertheless, there is no doubt, that caffeine is very harmful to the health of a person. In the Western world, 8 out of 10 adults consume caffeine in some form. Presently many Americans are hooked on caffeine. Ninety percent consume it in one form or another every single day. Over half of them consume more than 300 milligrams of caffeine every day. It is in coffee, tea, soda, chocolate, and a variety of other things, and is our nation's most popular drug.

Caffeine occurs naturally in many plants, including coffee beans, tea leaves, and cocoa nuts. Caffeine is really a biological poison used by plants as a defense against being harmed and injured by the other forms of life in their environment. The caffeine gives seeds and leaves a bitter taste, which discourages their consumption by insects and animals. If predators continue to eat a caffeine-containing plant, the caffeine can cause central nervous system disruptions and even lethal side effects. Most of them learn to leave the plant alone.
Though it is widely known that caffeine is an addictive and unhealthy drug, it is widely consumed and as much a part of American contemporary life as smoking was years ago. With the spread of and popularity of coffee bars, coffee, one of the main sources of caffeine in people's diet, is more popular than ever. (Tea and hot chocolate, also consumed at these coffee bars contain significant caffeine, but not as much.) Around one third of all coffee drinkers say they can't do without it and are clearly addicted. Tolerance for caffeine for anyone drinking coffee can develop rapidly and lead to the desire to increase ones consumption. Someone used to drinking six or seven cups of strong coffee a day will begin to experience withdrawal symptoms on waking and then every two to three hours after the last coffee drink. If you are seeking optimum health, however, you should severely curtail your coffee consumption, and eventually stop consuming it at all. It is a drug and the last thing any of us needs is another addiction.

When most people think of caffeine they immediately think of coffee, and yet much of the caffeine that is ingested does not come from coffee at all. In fact, people who do not drink coffee may be ingesting quite a great deal of caffeine regularly. The fact is, caffeine is an addictive additive in most commercial sodas.
Caffeine has many effects on the body and brain. For example, as your body becomes fatigued, adenosine is made in the brain, and binds to adenosine receptors. This causes drowsiness by slowing nerve cell activity. The result is that you will want to stop and rest. You will want to go to sleep. This is healthy, for you need the rest. The adenosine also causes blood vessels to dilate in the brain, so more oxygen can reach the brain during sleep.

When caffeine is ingested and goes into the stomach, it quickly travels to the brain. Once there it binds to the adenosine nerve receptors. But instead of cellular activity slowing, this results in it speeding up. The cell can no longer bind with adenosine, because the caffeine is linked up with all of its available receptors. The usual effect of adenosine is blocked in this way and the cell begins accelerating its activity. In addition to this, because adenosine is shut out, the brain's blood vessels begin to constrict. The increased neuron firing in the brain stimulates the pituitary gland. The pituitary signals the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline (epinephrine), the "fight or flight" hormone.Unfortunately, when the adrenaline wears off, you feel fatigued and that drives you to get more caffeine. As you go through this cycle many times through the day, you will find yourself becoming more and more irritable.

Caffeine raises the blood pressure and increases the levels of various stress hormones, and for those very sensitive to it or consuming large quantities, it can cause heart palpitations and nervousness. If sustained by regular coffee drinking over a lifetime, these increases in blood pressure and heart rate will elevate the risk of stroke and heart disease. Heavy coffee drinkers, those having five or more cups per day, were two to three times more likely to have coronary heart disease than were nondrinkers.

Caffeine at a high level can eventually lead to exhaustion of the adrenal glands. Caffeine is a chemical stimulant that increases blood levels of the hormones produced by the adrenal glands. The adrenal hormones regulate stress response, blood pressure, blood sugar, mineral levels, immune activity, inflammation, and cell growth and repair. Long term caffeine consumption contributes to adrenal insufficiency, in which over 150 hormones produced by the adrenals or metabolized from adrenal hormones no longer function adequately.
Caffeine causes the body to produce greater amounts of cortisol, the body's stress hormone. These elevated levels can last for hours having a negative effect on serotonin and dopamine production. Anxiety will increase and even depression can result from these changes.

People sometimes feel sharper after their cup of coffee, however the increased cortisol will lead to restricted blood to the brain and eventually causes poorer mental performance.

People who chronically stimulate their adrenal glands to overproduce cortisol alter their daily pattern of cortisol concentrations so that cortisol is low in the morning when they wake up instead of high. So they reach for a cup of coffee to artificially spike their cortisol levels up again. These same people experience huge cortisol surges at meals causing them to overeat. They have higher body fat, lower muscle mass, and reduced metabolism, so they burn fewer calories. They don't sleep well at night because elevated cortisol levels keep them from entering the deep, rebuild and repair stage of sleep the body needs for recuperation. High levels of cortisol will also compromise your immune system and interfere with your body's ability to fight off pathogens.

Be aware that if you frequently drink coffee or have other sources of caffeine, including ,especially, the many popular caffeinated sodas ,and find that at end of the day you are regularly stressed out and exhausted, even depressed and worried, it could very well be the result of the caffeine generating large amounts of cortisol in your body.

In the end, those seeking the healthiest life should avoid the caffeine to be found in many popular beverages. You should avoid caffeinated coffee, and even Decaf, which is not totally caffeine free, and get in the habit of reading the ingredients on the labels of all sodas and drinks, and choose only the ones which are free of caffeine. Fortunately, for those in successful recovery from alcohol, which had caused hangovers and interfered with the important REM sleep, the powerful need for caffeine in the form of coffee in the morning no longer exists.

The Benefits of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in Treating Major Depression

Transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS, is a medical procedure which uses fluctuating magnetic fields to induce electrical activity in the brain. TMS is generally well-tolerated by patients, and regarded as safe and non-invasive. This procedure can therefore be quite useful in treating disorders such as depression, which has traditionally been treated with pharmacotherapy, but this method does not always work for all patients. TMS is especially enjoying an increase in popularity since it is much less dangerous and traumatic than electroconvulsive therapy, which is sometimes a last resort for treating depression. Additionally, the benefits seen from TMS are as positive and significant as those seen with traditional antidepressant pharmacotherapy, even in patients who have not responded to treatment by medication.

TMS has not only been shown to increase a sense of emotional well-being in patients, but has beneficial effects on some of the physical symptoms of depression as well. Often, major depression is accompanied by psychomotor agitation, and repeated application of TMS has been shown to reduce the amount of agitation in patients. Additionally, attentional difficulties reported by depressed patients have been reduced with even a single application of TMS, and subjects reported an elevated mood as a result of being able to concentrate more fully on activities. Anxiety and panic which sometimes manifest as depressive symptoms are also alleviated by TMS treatment, drastically speeding up patient recovery periods, since they do not have to be treated as separate disorders.

Like other forms of depression therapies, TMS induces changes in neurotransmitter and neuroendocrine systems in the brain, but since it helps treat physical symptoms in addition to affective symptoms, TMS may create a feedback loop in the patient which allows them to remain healthy after treatment, since they find daily tasks much easier to perform, reinforcing their positive mood. Doctors can even cater to individual patients' needs by varying the location and distance of the TMS device. Often, the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is the area targeted by TMS, since it is involved in affective disorders. However, by combining TMS stimulation of certain brain areas and using TMS to reduce overactivity in other areas, even more positive benefits in patient's moods and their ability to remain emotionally healthy have been observed.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation is still an emerging therapy, but the initial results of studies on TMS show promising results for treating a wide variety of major depression symptoms.

Treatments For Bipolar Depression

Bipolar disorders which are usually caused by the chemical imbalances in the brain, can be treated and reduced to a certain level and for some, symptomatic recovery also has been achieved. Usually medications are given for the patients who suffer from bipolar disorder. Any body who seek the help of a doctor must try to see a good and experienced doctor since the bipolar depression is sometimes misdiagnosed as major depression, schizophrenia or other mental problems.

Usually Lithium medications are given for the people who suffer from this manic depressive illness. Anticonvulsant medicines like Depakote, Sodium Valproate, Tegretol, Lamotrigine, Neurontin, Topamax etc are also found very effective to reduce the disease to a maximum level. Sometimes anticunvulsants are combined with Lithium for more effect. Aripriprazole is also given to treat the mixed episodes of bipolar 1 depression. The mood stabilizers usually help to control the disease to an extent. Other medications are also given by the doctors if it is necessary or if the condition is very severe. Usually the doctors give extra medicines along with the medication for a short period of time. Doctors may also give some medicines along with the proper medication which can help the patient to get more sleep and also to reduce the mental pressures. We should consult the doctor about the other medicines or the natural supplements we are taking as it may cause some adverse effects if used along with these medicines.

Medications can help as a bridge which helps to overcome the disease. But sudden effects may not be there for the medications. The ups and downs in the mood of the patient can continue for weeks and months. But they will definitely help to decrease the frequency and the severity of the ups and downs in the mood. Usually there can be some side effects for these medicines but it differs from person to person too. Usually this includes weight gain, tremor, nausea, reduced sexual interest, anxiety, dry mouth, hair loss, some problems in the movements etc. Usually the women who plan to conceive, who are feeding or are pregnant are not recommended to use these medicines as they can cause some risks or adverse effects to the babies.

If there is any side effect seen after starting the medication or by after some days, the patient should tell the Doctor about all the problems. Never ever stop the medicines or change the dosage of the medicines with out the doctor’s advice. It can cause the disease to come again or it can also worsen the disease a lot. Some psychosocial treatments are also given for the bipolar depression. This includes psychotherapy usually given by a licensed psychologist, and also some social workers or counselors who works together with the psychiatrist. Usually they give counseling’s or talk therapies through different sessions which help the patients to regain the mental abilities like self confidence and will power.

Psychologists are also giving some cognitive behavioral therapies, psycho educations and family therapies which help the patient to reach the normal level. Some interpersonal and social rhythm therapies are also given to regularize their daily routines or relationships.

Certainly, all of us can experience anxiety at times, especially when we have a particularly difficult situation to deal with, like taking a driving test for example, or going for a job interview, but when the anxiety is so severe that it disrupts our daily lives, then it could be that we are suffering from an anxiety- related mental health disorder.

Similarly, each of us know what its like to feel a bit down in the dumps, we may even say we are depressed, but true depression is where the symptoms dont subside after a short period of time, they persist and are severe enough to impair our ability to carry out our normal routines.

The following list represents some of the more commonly known mental health disorders with a brief description of their typical symptoms.

Phobias

A phobia is an anxiety related disorder characterised by extreme fear, perhaps fear of a situation, an object, a place or a creature and this fear is completely out of proportion to the norm. There are literally hundreds of known phobias but common ones include fear of public places, confined spaces, flying, spiders, and fear of heights. A sufferer will try to avoid their fear at all costs, and when faced with it, will experience severe anxiety which can include palpitations, nausea and panic attacks.

Panic attacks

A panic attack can be a terrifying experience. Someone experiencing a panic attack is engulfed by overwhelming fear and panic often without warning. Various physical symptoms can accompany a panic attack, which include difficulty breathing, trembling, palpitations, dizziness, sweating, and nausea and a feeling of impending death.

Post traumatic stress

Post traumatic stress can follow an intensely disturbing experience such as a car crash, violence or rape, being in extreme danger or basically any event that causes severe psychological distress. The symptoms include constantly reliving the event in the mind through flashbacks and nightmares, disturbed sleep, anxiety and depression.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety related disorder manifesting itself in irrational and obsessive thoughts that spark illogical rituals and behaviours or compulsions, for example, constantly thinking (obsessing) that your hands are not clean causing you to repeatedly wash your hands (a compulsion). Other examples include excessive cleaning, checking and rechecking that doors are locked and windows closed etc. Someone with OCD can feel intensely anxious if they dont carry out their rituals so performing them is a way to relieve their feelings of anxiety and distress.

Depression

Depression is more than a period of the blues. Clinical depression can be said to exist when the symptoms of depression persist for longer than a couple of weeks and are severe enough to interfere with normal daily routines. There is also a loss of pleasure in activities that were once enjoyed. There are many symptoms associated with depression including feelings of sadness and despair, lethargy, sleep disturbances, changes in eating patterns, sudden changes in behaviour and mood, anxiety, guilt, and thoughts of death and suicide. We can all experience some of these symptoms at times but when truly depressed these symptoms dont just subside, they persist.

Bipolar disorder (manic depression)

Bipolar disorder is characterised by extreme fluctuations in mood with episodes of euphoria and mania alternating with episodes of depression and despair. During a manic phase the bipolar sufferer may need very little sleep, may think and talk very quickly, can be highly creative, appear completely confident and without inhibition, they could leave their job, go on a spending spree or behave in other potentially destructive ways. During a depressive episode they may experience strong feelings of hopelessness and despair and find themselves unable to muster the energy to do even the simplest of tasks. They may also withdraw from social situations and even contemplate suicide. Bipolar is a lifelong disorder affecting around 1 percent of the population.

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a particularly severe kind of mental health disorder, which is characterised by hallucinations, delusions, and strange behaviour and beliefs.

Conclusion

Mental health disorders are complex so making an accurate diagnosis yourself can be difficult, many people will present with symptoms of more than one type of disorder and many of the symptoms of each disorder overlap with each other. Consequently, it is important to seek the right help. In the first instance you should speak to your doctor who will be able to make full medical assessment and guide you towards an appropriate course of treatment.

Sadly, many people are afraid of seeking help and as such, will suffer in silence which can be an isolating and lonely experience with potentially devastating effects. Fortunately, mental health disorders are treatable and those who do seek help can go on to lead normal lives once again.

can depression lead to psychosis or other mental disorders?

I'm starting to believe this but if anyone knows for sure, let me know.

I suffer from major depression, but it never reached the point of psychosis. The answer to your question is that when depression becomes very severe, it can lead to a state of psychotic depression. In addition to many of the symptoms of depression, one can actually hallucinate or have irrational delusions.

Of course, depression can co-exist with other mood disorders, for example, anxiety, panic, and OCD. I have some anxiety and OCD.

If nothing else is helping you (like psychotherapy, alternative health, traditional antidepressants), it sounds like you should contact your doctor ASAP. I don't know what you are experiencing right now, but if necessary you should consider a trip to hospital ER.

In my own case, many years of traditional antidepressants and combinations did almost nothing to help me. I had to go on lamictal (usually for bipolar disorder) and abilify (for depression, bipolar and schizophrenia). This combination of meds helped me. I am not suggesting you take this combo since we all react differently to psych meds. However, try to find a shrink who does their research and thinks "outside the box." He or she might come up with a med or meds that more conventional shrinks never thought of.

This is probably obvious, but make sure you are seeing a psychiatrist, who knows much more about psych meds than regular doctors.

Bipolar Disorder

A kind of depressive disorder - Bipolar disorder, alternatively termed as manic depression and manic depressive disorder, is a severe mental disorder that leads to abnormal shifts in an individual's mood as well as energy, which in turn may result in conditions like damaged relationships and poor work or studies performance. In some severe situations, the patient may have increased tendency for suicide. Bipolar disorder usually affects a person during his teens and early adult ages. In other words, bipolar disorder mostly affects people below 25 years of age. Al though this illness is completely curable, bipolar disorder is not easy to diagnose and in some instance, a person with this depressive disorder may suffer for a long period prior to its diagnosis and treatment.

Causes of Bipolar Disorder

The reasons of bipolar disorder have not yet been exactly determined. According to the studies and researches, this mental disorder is due to a combination of factors such as genetic, neurochemical, and environmental.

  • Genetic causes of bipolar disorder

It is reported that about 80% of bipolar disorder is inherited or occur due to certain genetic factors. In other words, a person is more is likely to get this mental illness if he has a:

    • Family member with mood disorder like depression
    • Parents with bipolar disorder
    • Twin brother or sister with bipolar disorder
  • Biological causes of bipolar disorder
    • Over emission of stress hormones such as cortisol
    • Atypical hyperactiveness in brain's parts that are related to emotion as well as movement coordination and low bustle in brain's parts that are related to inhibition, attention, judgment, and concentration
    • A person with a family history of bipolar disorder
    • Brain's unusual serotonin chemistry
  • Environmental causes of bipolar disorder
    • Increased usage of alcohol and drugs
    • Hormonal problems
    • Substance abuse
    • Seasonal factors

Types and symptoms of Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is classifies into four different types such as Bipolar I Disorder (Mania), Bipolar Disorder II (Hypomania), and Cyclothymia. In fact, the signs and symptoms of bipolar disorder vary depending on the type of this disorder.

  • Bipolar Disorder I symptoms
    • Irritability
    • Excessive talk
    • Magnified self-esteem
    • Impulsiveness
    • Unusual energy
    • Highly distracted
    • Impaired judgment
  • Bipolar Disorder II symptoms
    • Fatigue
    • feeling sad as well as hopelessness
    • Mental and physical indolence
    • Weight variations
    • Tendency to commit suicide

The symptoms of Cyclothymia are less severe when compared to other types of bipolar disorders.

Diagnosis and Treatment

The earlier the bipolar disorder is diagnosed, the more effective would be its treatment. A variety of options are available for curing this disease, from medication and counseling to psychotherapy.

Ole! Seniors Choosing Nursing Homes in Mexico

As millions of baby boomers reach retirement age and U.S. health care costs soar, Mexican nursing home managers expect more American seniors to head south in coming years.

Mexico's proximity to the USA, low labor costs and warm climate make it attractive, although residents caution that quality of care varies greatly in an industry that is just getting off the ground there.

Here's more:

After Jean Douglas turned 70, she realized she couldn't take care of herself anymore. Her knees were giving out, and winters in Bandon, Oregon, were getting harder to bear alone.  Douglas was shocked by the high cost and impersonal care at assisted living facilities near her home. After searching the Internet for other options, she joined a small but steadily growing number of Americans who are moving across the border to nursing homes in Mexico, where the sun is bright and the living is cheap.

For $1,300 a month--a quarter of what an average nursing home costs in Oregon--Douglas gets a studio apartment, three meals a day, laundry and cleaning service, and 24-hour care from an attentive staff, many of whom speak English. She wakes up every morning next to a glimmering mountain lake, and the average annual high temperature is a toasty 79 degrees.  "It is paradise," says Douglas, 74. "If you need help living or coping, this is the place to be. I don't know that there is such a thing back (in the USA), and certainly not for this amount of money."

An estimated 40,000 to 80,000 American retirees already live in Mexico, many of them in enclaves such as San Miguel de Allende or the Chapala area, says David Warner, a University of Texas public affairs professor who has studied the phenomenon. There are no reliable data on how many are living in nursing homes, but at least five such facilities are on Lake Chapala.

"You can barely afford to live in the United States anymore," said Harry Kislevitz, 78, of New York City. A stroke victim, he moved to a convalescent home on the lake's shore two years ago and credits the staff with helping him recover his speech and ability to walk.  "Here you see the birds, you smell the air, and it's delicious," Kislevitz said. "You feel like living."

Many expatriates are Americans or Europeans who retired here years ago and are now becoming more frail. Others are not quite ready for a nursing home but are exploring options such as in-home health care services, which can provide Mexican nurses at a fraction of U.S. prices.

Retirement homes are relatively new in Mexico, where the aging seniors usually live with family. There is little government regulation. Some places have suddenly gone bankrupt, forcing American residents to move. Some Mexican homes have rough edges, such as peeling paint or frayed sofas, that would turn off many Americans.

"I don't think they're for everyone," said Thomas Kessler, whose mother suffers from manic depression and lives at a home in Ajijic. "But basically, they've kept our family finances from falling off a cliff."

Residents such as Richard Slater say they are happy in Mexico. Slater came to Lake Chapala four years ago and now lives in his own cottage at the Casa de Ancianos, surrounded by purple bougainvillea and pomegranate trees.

He has plenty of room for his two dogs and has a little patio that he shares with three other American residents. He gets 24-hour nursing care and three meals a day, cooked in a homey kitchen and served in a sun-washed dining room. His cottage has a living room, bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and a walk-in closet.

For this Slater pays $550 a month, less than one-tenth of the going rate back home in Las Vegas. For another $140 a year, he gets full medical coverage from the Mexican government, including all his medicine and insulin for diabetes.

"This would all cost me a fortune in the United States," said Slater, a 65-year-old retired headwaiter.

On a recent afternoon, lunch at the Casa de Ancianos consisted of vegetable soup, beet salad, Spanish rice, baked dogfish stuffed with peppers, garlic bread and a choice of four cakes and two Jell-O salads. Slater's neighbor doesn't like Mexican food, so a nursing home employee cooks whatever she wants on a stove beside her bed.

Like many retirees, Slater has satellite television, so he doesn't miss any American news or programs. When he wants to see a movie or go shopping downtown, the taxi ride is only $2 or $3. Guadalajara, a culturally rich city of four million people, is just 30 miles away.

For medical care, Slater relies on the Mexican Social Security Institute, or IMSS, which runs clinics and hospitals nationwide and allows foreigners to enroll in its program even if they never worked in Mexico or paid taxes to support the system. He recently had gallbladder surgery in an IMSS hospital in Guadalajara, and he paid nothing.

Many of the nursing home employees speak English, and so does Slater's doctor.

The Casa de Ancianos began accepting foreigners in 2000 as part of an effort to raise extra money, director Marlene Dunham said. It built the cottages especially for the Americans and uses the income received from them to subsidize the costs of the 20 Mexican residents at the home.

The program was so successful that the nursing home has plans for 12 more cottages, a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi and a gazebo with picnic area. The nursing home now advertises on the Internet and through pamphlets distributed in town. Some U.S. companies have also begun investing in assisted living facilities in Mexico, said Larry Minnix, president of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, which represents 5,800 nursing homes and related services.

However, Minnix cautioned that lax government regulation poses dangers at smaller homes.

"It's the same danger you have of going across the border looking for cheap medications," Minnix said. "If you don't know what you're getting, and you're not getting it from people you trust, then you've got an accident waiting to happen."

Since many nursing homes are run out of private homes, regulation by state health departments is often spotty. Managers such as Beverly Ward of Casa Nostra and Maura Funes of El Paraiso, both in Ajijic, said that Mexican officials inspect them only once a year, unlike U.S. inspectors, who may visit a home several times a year.

The U.S. Embassy said it had no record of complaints against Mexican nursing homes, but some residents in the Lake Chapala area reported bad experiences at now-defunct homes.

The first home that Jean Douglas lived in after she moved from Oregon was staffed by "gossips and thieves," she said. It went out of business.  Irene Chiara of Los Angeles also lived in a home that was shut down by Jalisco state authorities.

"It was filthy, and the food was very bad. It was all made in the microwave," she said.

Some Mexican managers also underestimate the costs and difficulty of running a retirement home. Two hotels turned into assisted living facilities, The Spa in San Miguel de Allende and The Melville in the Pacific Coast city of Mazatlán, recently abandoned the business, their managers said.

"It was very expensive to run it," said Luis Terán, manager of The Melville.  Some managers said they were especially selective when admitting foreign residents, to make sure they'll be able to pay. Medicare, Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs and most U.S. insurance companies will not cover care or medicine as long as patients are outside the USA.

Some American residents said they had doubts about the quality of Mexican medical facilities and would go back to the USA if they became seriously ill. Jim May, 74, a resident of the Casa de Ancianos, said he recently decided to move to Texas to be closer to Veterans Affairs hospitals.

The language barrier can be daunting, and Mexican food can be very different, some residents said.

Some residents said they miss home and find it hard to make friends with Mexican residents. "It's a very nice place, but it's lonesome," said Polly Coull, 99, of Seminole, Fla., a resident at Alicia's Convalescent Nursing Home in Ajijic.

Mexican entrepreneurs are doing their best to prepare for a tide of Americans.  In the Baja Peninsula town of Ensenada, the Residencia Lourdes opened in 2003, offering care for patients with Alzheimer's disease and senile dementia. The towns around Lake Chapala have at least five small retirement homes. Most of them opened in the last five years and house from one to 25 foreigners.  The largest, Alicia's Convalescent Nursing Home, consists of four renovated homes, one of them specializing in stroke victims and another for Alzheimer's patients. Prices range from $1,000 to $1,500 a month and include everything except medicine and adult diapers. The rooms are outfitted in Mexican style, with murals, hand-carved beds, arched ceilings lined with brick and individual patios.

In other American enclaves, in-home healthcare services have sprung up to serve the retirees. In Rosarito, just south of the U.S. border, INCARE provides nursing aides to retirees starting at $8.33 an hour, less than half the cost of the same service in nearby San Diego.

Developers of independent living facilities for seniors are also beginning to look to Mexico. A Spanish-U.S. venture is building Sensara Vallarta, a 250-unit condominium complex aimed at Americans age 50 and older in the Pacific Coast resort of Puerto Vallarta. And in the northern city of Monterrey, El Legado is marketing itself as a "home resort" for seniors.

Academics and government officials are beginning to take notice. In March, the University of Texas at Austin held a forum for developers, hospital officials, insurance companies and policymakers to discuss health care for retirees in Mexico.

"With the right facilities in place, Mexico could give (American retirees) a better quality of life at a better price than they could find in the United States," says Flavio Olivieri, a member of Tijuana's Economic Development Council, which is seeking funding from Mexico's federal government to build more retirement homes, including senior apartments. "We think this could be a very good business as these baby boomers reach retirement age," he says.

5 Tips to Help You Out of a Gambling Addiction Crisis

5 Tips To Help You Out Of A Gambling Addiction Crisis

When you are in a gambling addiction crisis, this is a very dangerous time. You may have lost a lot of money, lost your job, or
perhaps your home. A gambling addiction crisis is usually a time where suicidal thoughts and actions are at their highest.
There is help and hope, and you are certainly not alone in your situation. Here are some tips to help you through your crisis so
that you can stay away from gambling  long enough to start thinking clearly again.

1. Pick up the phone and call for help with your gambling addiction This is of dire importance, especially if you are thinking of harming

yourself.
Depending upon what country you live in, there will be different Hotlines that you can call. Here are just a couple.

USA           1-800-522-4700
UK            0845-6000-133
S Australia   1-800-060-757
S Whales      1-800-633-635
Hong Kong     852-1834-633
Sweden        020-819100
Germany       01801-776611
Canada        1-888-391-1111

If your country is not listed here.. go to Google and use the words gambling addiction help or hotline.. and your country
and you should be able to contact someone.

If you are feeling suicidal, please realize that this is a permanant solution to a temporary problem. There is no going
back for a second chance at life.

Please call a suicide hotline in your country immediately. People care.. they will help you through your crisis.

In addition, please contact a family member or friend. You most likely feel very isolated and alone right now. You need to be
around people who care about you.

2.  Promise yourself that you will not gamble.. at least for the next 24 hours. Gambling addiction effects our brain chemistry.
While you are in action, your brain chemistry (dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine) changes temporarily. You are most likely
not thinking clearly and may be feeling very manic, anxious, ashamed, or depressed. You have got to stay away from gambling for several
months before your brain chemistry truly goes back to normal. You will, however, feel better for each 24 hour period that
you stay away from gambling.

3.  Make sure that you nourish yourself properly. You may be dehydrated after gamblling for several hours, and you most likely lack
proper nourishment. Have a good meal and plenty of water, even though you may have lost your appetite. Your body needs its'
nourishment. This will also help your mood as well.

4.  Go online and research the topic of gambling addiction. Learn as much as you can about the subject. Knowledge is power, and
the more you know, the better you will be able to help yourself through the crisis. Think about joining some Gambling Addiction
Forums such as recoveryzone.org, revolutionhealth.com, femalegamblers.org, sfcghub.com are all great online forums where
you maintain your anonymity. Also, check out gamblersanonymous.org for local groups that meet in person in your area.(If you
have been to a meeting before, and relapsed, the group will welcome you back with open arms).

5.  ***Forgive yourself****. Tell yourself that you will get better and that you will do whatever it takes to get free from the
grip of this horrible addiction. Realize that you are not alone, and you are not weak or immoral. You have a gambling addiction
that has taken control of you. There is hope.. and you will.. and can get better.

Best of luck to you.

6 Ways to Duck Darts in the Internet Jungle!

I started blogging in May of 2006. I wanted to create a place on the internet where I could accomplish two goals:

Goal #1.

I wanted to give my opinions on Current Events and, hopefully, encourage others to join me in a lively exchange of ideas. You see, I am a retired Radio/TV News broadcaster. Giving my opinions was something I did not have the luxury of doing during my career because I had to remain neutral. Now, I can give my opinions and I am having great fun doing it!

Goal #2.

I wanted to make a little extra money in my retirement while learning something new. Many male retirees head for the golf course, the bowling alley, even the Club to down a few beers and talk sports. None of that appeals to me so I chose to learn something new - the internet and blogging.

Well, what began as simple goals grew into nearly a full time project! I now have 15 blogs covering various topics! I chose Blogger.com because it's totally Free! It's a Google company so I automatically get great exposure. As of this writing, my pages have been viewed over 8,000 times! Not bad for someone who knew absolutely nothing about the internet.

Trying to make a little extra money was a bit tougher. I quickly got lost in the jungle of internet marketing, dodging the darts from various tribes (marketers). I began exploring any path that seemed promising, that would lead me out of the jungle. I signed up for countless newsletters, forums, and special packages of Free stuff. My computer files were quickly loaded with tons and tons of directions to do this and that. I was quickly lost and overwhelmed by the choices. It took over an hour each day just to get through all the emails from marketers!

It quickly became clear that I needed a guide, someone or something, a guide that could really show me the way out of the jungle. One thing I knew, right off the bat was: Hold onto my money!

I have read of folks, like me, who have spent thousands of dollars on the various get-rich-overnight schemes only to be disappointed. Are in that category? Have you already spent hundreds or thousands of dollars only to be disappointed? Are you still lost in the internet jungle, trying to buy your way out?

As of this article I have only spent $127.00 on internet marketing programs. I got a refund of $17.00 of that from a marketer who misrepresented his product. But, I did not get the refund from him. I got the refund from my credit card company. They are going after him for the $17.00. You see, he lives in another country. I'll explain why this was a problem in a minute.

Here is how to avoid being scammed by internet marketing hucksters:

#1 - Use Google, Yahoo, and MSN to search by the name of the program that interests you.

Not only will you find positive comments but, if the program is a scam, you will find negative comments as well. If it's a relatively new program you might not find anything either way. If you find nothing - DO NOTHING! Don't be the first victim and always remain cautious as you move through the steps outlined here.

#2 - Make sure there is a 100% No-Questions-Asked-Money-Back-Guarantee!

This is not always completely safe as evidenced by the $17.00 I had to get back. That marketer pleaded poverty and said he did not have the money to issue a refund. He offered to give me a different product in exchange for my refund. While most marketers will honor their guarantee, this guy was obviously a scam artist. It only takes a few to empty your wallet.

#3 - Know who you are dealing with.

Reputable marketers will disclose their identity up front. There should be an easy way to contact them and their name and location should be readily available. One of the things I regularly do is send them an email with questions about the product. I wait to see how long it takes them to respond and how clear their answer is. If they do not respond within 24 hours, move on. Do not buy the product. Obviously they will not respond quickly when you need help with their product.

#4 - If you do buy a program, make sure you test it immediately.

The idea here is to be sure you are within the time frame of the guarantee to ask for a refund if you are not satisfied. Some of the programs take some time to implement. You may have to ask questions of the author. All this takes time. The clock begins ticking when you download the program or method.

#5 - Know the country of origin.

This ties in with knowing who you are dealing with. The interenet is worldwide in scope. I am in the United States. I have downloaded Free stuff from many marketers in many countries around the world.

Here is the important thing to remember: They are not bound by the Internet Marketing Laws of the United States! That's right. It may be difficult, if not impossible, to get a refund from a foreign scam artist.

The marketer I mentioned earlier was from Quebec, Canada. My credit card company operates in Canada so they are after him. They already have credited my card for the $17.00. Bottom line: Do your research (see #1 above) before you whip out the plastic!

#6 - Search online for Internet Scams.

I left this for last because there is no single website that lists every single scam. That would literally be an impossible task. But, all do list a few scams so save this step for when you have exhausted all the other steps. Just Google "Internet Scams" to find these types of websites. Some of these allow you to report a scam as well.

I hope this will be your guide out of the internet marketing jungle. It has served me well. I trust it will serve you and save you a lot of money and frustration.

Remember this - It's Get Rich Slow that works everytime!

Yours for success in life.

Depression Medication, Help for Hopelessness and Unhappiness

Many people who experience depression take medication to help them feel better and overcome their depression. Medication can be very helpful to such individuals, helping them to rid themselves of the feelings of hopelessness and unhappiness. Studies have found, furthermore, that medication is even more effective when partnered with a supportive environment and good therapy. The two together can help restore feelings of well-being, and help overcome depression.

There are many ways to go about getting medication for depression. However, it usually requires a trip to a doctor and a referral to a psychiatrist or psychologist. Only someone who is specifically trained to diagnose mental conditions states should prescribe depression medication. Periodic visits to someone who can listen can also be helpful in dispelling depression. This is also where having a good support system comes in. Friends and family can be very helpful, if they are supportive. Such support is more effective than medication alone.

Unfortunately, there is another form of medication for depression. By using alcohol and illegal drugs, many people "self medicate" themselves for depression. Many of them do not even realize that they are depressed. All they know is that they feel bad, and the only way to feel better is to get drunk or engage in illicit activities. Self medication is quite common because many people just assume that life is bad, and the weekends were made for getting smashed or high. They feel good while on the alcohol or drugs, so they think that nothing is wrong, other than life in general.

Additionally, self medication allows depressed people to relieve their depressed feelings without the stigma of visiting a "head shrink." For many people, going to someone who is supposed to treat mental conditions would be admitting that there is something wrong with the mind. That is a hard thing to overcome, especially since few people want to advertise that they have mental problems. So it is understandable that they would prefer to just feel better in their own way.

The problem with self medication, though, is that it does nothing to break the cycle of depression. In fact, it only adds to the depression. Once the effects of the alcohol or drugs wear off, the person often "crashes," feeling worse than before. The person feels worse, and the only way to feel better is to get drunk or high again. And the cycle perpetuates itself. Sometimes it becomes bad enough that the behavior is not just a weekend occurrence, but expands to disrupt work and family life during the week.

Medication, when administered by a professional, can be a helpful tool in overcoming depression. Self medication through alcohol and illegal drugs, however, is destructive and rarely does it help someone overcome depression. And it adds the problems associated with addiction on top of the problems of depression. Feelings of depression should be explored by people qualified to help you overcome your depression. This way, proper help and appropriate medication can be found to aid you as you move out of depression.

what can my family do? we do need to forgive him but he needs help?

he has done allot of things wrong and the most recent one did tear up his family he is a 60 year old man who battles with alcohol, psychologically thoughts and depression. my family and myself are christians but we just don't know what to do. he is at the bottom and the only way out is a miracle by God.

As a Christian counselor for 12 years, I would need more information before making any direct suggestions.

However, it would sound like you already know that God will be the only real answer. Pray for this person. If they want help, do what you can to get them some good Biblical based help. If this person does not want help, there is little you can do but remove your family from any influence this person may have over you.

Without more information, any further advice would not be wise. God bless and I pray things work out for you and to Jesus' glory.

How To cure feelings Of Depression On Young Children And Teenagers

Clinical depression is a condition caused by chemical imbalances in the brain that make a person constantly feel aloof, negative, sad, and unmotivated. Depression can last for weeks, months, or even years. It can result from stress, certain situations, or triggered by nothing at all. Depression can affect people of any age, including teens and young children.

Young people frequently suffer from depressive disorders, which leaves parents with questions such as: what causes it, and what treatments are available? The good news is that depression is treatable and some of the most effective depression treatments come in the form of Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques.

In the past, it was thought that younger people could not experience depression, but in reality, depression affects people of all ages. Often, depression in children and teens is triggered by events such as a relationship breakup, illness, a loss in the family, changing schools, or abuse. In some people, depression has no external cause. Depression often runs in families, meaning mothers and fathers with depression are more likely to have offspring who also suffer from depression.

There are many different forms of depression. Most children with depression have a type of major depression. This form obstructs a person's ability to enjoy life and engage in normal activities. Some children and teens may also suffer from a milder type of depression called Dysthymic Disorder, which is a long-term type of depression with less severe symptoms than major depression. A rarer but still common type of depression is manic-depression (bipolar disorder), which is characterized by mood shifts from extreme happiness to extreme sadness.

Depression can be a problem for young people because their symptoms vary slightly from the ones adults frequently display, making it more challenging to diagnose and treat. Often, children and teens with depression will not feel sad or "depressed" as one would find in adults. Constant irritability is typically one of the biggest signs of depression in children and teens. Signs of depression may not be obvious, but may include difficulty concentrating and difficulty sleeping, exhaustion, and decreased interest in activities.

Children with depression may do poorly in school, have problems making friends, or have disciplinary problems. The effects are also pronounced for teens, who may abuse alcohol and drugs to escape their depression. Depressive disorder is no one's fault, but those with depression do have the power to get treatment and find out how to handle their depression.

Depression treatments can range from counseling and therapy, to the use of antidepressant drugs. Group psychotherapy can be helpful for teenagers and children by providing a safe place to share their experience with others. Online services such as forums for depressed teens can also provide a source of information for teen depression and serve as a therapy group for the depressed.

Behavioral counseling can help teach people how to manage their depression. Counselors can help parents understand what causes a child's depression. Family counseling helps educate parents on why their child has depression and what they can do to help.

In some cases, antidepressant medications are prescribed. This is only done under the supervision of a physician who will monitor the child's health and mental state. Even though people with severe depression may have a need for antidepressants, these drugs can have undesirable side effects, especially in young people, who are still developing. This is why counseling, understanding and support from parents and professional therapists, and the use of techniques that help young people learn how to cope with their depression by themselves are considered better for helping children with depression.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (nlp) practices can be used to relieve anxiety, tension, and depression. They help people form safe and constructive coping mechanisms for reducing depression. It works for all people because it is non-invasive, does not require the use of any drugs, and is an effective form of self-therapy.

One NLP technique used to alleviate depression is the NLP Flash. This technique reprograms your unconscious mind to use the feelings that create stress and depression as triggers for thoughts that eliminate depression instead. It is a technique that even young people can learn to use to help them reduce their depression.

People with depression need not suffer. Therapeutic techniques can help depressed people of all ages find relief. NLP techniques are excellent for helping children and their families cope with stress and depression. These techniques can reduce or even eliminate depression in people of all ages.

How do I convince my family that depression is a mood disorder, not a sign of personal weakness?

I've been suffering for two years now, and without the support of those nearest and dearest to me. Whenever depression strikes with visible side effects - when I'm perceptibly blue, pursuing an isolationist policy, or in tears over nothing in particular - my mother would like me to "snap out of it," as she so lovingly puts it. My father and older sister reject any notion of depression classifying among other mental illnesses and are content to classify me as a militant bleeding heart with no emotional self-control (Well, I may concede to the latter being true; I have allowed depression to both fetch me a college expulsion and prevail over each and every aspect of my life). However, I am willing as ever to combat the holy mess that depression has made in my life, make amends, and move on. But, how am I to do this when my family has turned on me completely?

I would invite them to make an appointment with a doctor they trust to ask their questions about depression. Sometimes they just need to hear it from a professional. Good Luck.

Depression Family Quotes:

If you treat every situation as a life and death matter you'll die a lot of times. By Dean Smith Find out about Depression Family

Why Does A Person Get Depressed?

There is no single cause for depression. Many factors play a role including genetics, environment, life events, medical conditions, and the way people react to things that happen in their lives.

Genetics
Research shows that depression runs in families and that some people inherit genes that make it more likely for them to get depressed. Not everyone who has the genetic makeup for depression gets depressed, though. And many people who have no family history of depression have the condition. So although genes are one factor, they aren't the single cause of depression.

Life Events
The death of a family member, friend, or pet can go beyond normal grief and sometimes lead to depression. Other difficult life events, such as when parents divorce, separate, or remarry, can trigger depression. Even events like moving or changing schools can be emotionally challenging enough that a person becomes depressed.

Family and Social Environment
For some teens, a negative, stressful, or unhappy family atmosphere can affect their self-esteem and lead to depression. This can also include high-stress living situations such as poverty; homelessness; and violence in the family, relationships, or community.

Substance use and abuse also can cause chemical changes in the brain that affect mood - alcohol and some drugs are known to have depressant effects. The negative social and personal consequences of substance abuse also can lead to severe unhappiness and depression.

Medical Conditions
Certain medical conditions can affect hormone balance and therefore have an effect on mood. Some conditions, such as hypothyroidism, are known to cause a depressed mood in some people. When these medical conditions are diagnosed and treated by a doctor, the depression usually disappears.

For some teens, undiagnosed learning disabilities might block school success, hormonal changes might affect mood, or physical illness might present challenges or setbacks.

I get help for depression & anxiety. 6 family members have psych disorders too. How do I get them to get help?

Family background -African American, everyone is over 30 y.o., each member has at least some college or hold a degree and have possessed behaviors reflecting a disorder(s) for 5 years at the least.

Honestly, I don't think you can get them to. On the other hand, I do think that as you keep getting "better" then they might start to think more about getting help themselves.

Your family members are obviously well educated ,which I think will make them more observant to your progress.

Example: I have a friend who was always against anti-depressants until , she found out her best friend was taking them and saw the progress she was making. A few months later she started on them herself.

Bipolar Depression Disorder Quotes:

Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal. By Albert Camus Find out about Bipolar Depression Disorder

13 Bipolar Affective Disorder Triggers - 4 Treatment Plans

Manic Depressive is now known as Bipolar Affective Disorder, a mood disorder of which there are millions of sufferers. It is natural for people to have mood swings, but in this disorder moods go beyond what is normal. Sufferers experience extremes of low depression and high moods of elation or mania, and the frequencey varies from person to person.

Experts seem to think that the causes of Bipolar Disorder is through genetics or hormone levels, but this hasn't yet been fully established. In some cases acquired illnesses in a person have contributed to them getting a Bipolar Disorder.

In our daily lives, we all experience different events that give us emotions, some of which can at times, trigger mood swings. Having to cope with happy, joyful moments and then unpleasant, sad times can threaten to cause depression or a manic episode.

These triggers are also know as Stressors, which can cause mood swings. The following are examples:

1 No regular sleep
2 Alcohol or drug abuse
3 Stopping medication
4 Starting medication or herbal products for depression
5 Medical conditions such as thyroid problems
6 Changes in the seasons
7 Illness
8 Holidays
9 Having disagreements with family or friends
10 Problems at work
11 Death of a loved one, family or friend
12 Marital strife
13 Start of a new job or course

Once you have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, you will begin to recognise what triggers it. Devising your own mood chart or keeping a diary will help as you record all the events that have happened and how you felt about them. Certain patterns will emerge after some time which will help you find the triggers, and for each person it can be different.

Having help at hand to make your mood chart can be difficult. Enlist the aid of a trusted friend or member of the family. If you prefer, talk to a therapist or other healthcare provider; you can get their views and understand what they see. This can help you pick up on things that you may not have noticed.

By working out what triggers your mood swings, you can plan how best to avoid these situations. It will require some effort to get rid of bad habits, so help make your family and friends aware of your struggles, especially those who are strong enough to help you muddle through, and those who understand you better.

Some people can go through years without being diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder. Many do not seek professional help, as laboratory tests do not needed to be carried out, as for other illnesses. The MDQ is what a medical provider uses, which is a questionnaire specially utilised for Bipolar disorders. The person conducting the questionnaire has a checklist to fill on all the symptoms that a person may exhibit. Only a medical professional can use this to give the correct diagnosis, and nobody else.

Bipolar Affective Disorder can be treated with many different medicines available, which are:

1 Antidepressants - Used alone can trigger a mania episode if a person is having a depressive episode, or it can be used with a mood stabiliser.

2 Antipsychotic - For people going through mania episodes; depressive episodes or severe mania can end in psychosis, for which an antipsychotic can help with. Can be used alone or prescribed with other medications if a person has trouble sleeping or feels nervous.

3 ECT (Electroconvulsive therapy) - A treatment rather than a medication to help those who suffer from severe depression or from mania episodes. This therapy can also be given to those who do not respond to medications.

4 Mood Stabilisers - Medicine which can ease or delay depression and to relieve mania episodes.

ECT is only used as a therapy to help those who have acute depressive and manic symtoms. It is effective at reducing mood instability and cycling, and also helps to mimimise bipolar symptoms and side effects from given treatments. A bipolar patient can resume a normal life with a good management plan.

Bipolar Affective Disorder affects the individual as well as their families, but we all need to remember that with good proper treatment and medications, the disorder can be stabilised and controlled. Seek medical advice now.

Depression January 21 Quotes:

Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He's going to be up all night anyway. By Mary C. Crowley Find out about Depression January 21

speaking Truth Unto God

From the realm of politics I sometimes hear the phrase, "Speak truth to power." It sounds like a battle cry of the oppressed or somebody standing up to authorities and holding them accountable.

In the scriptures for the daily Catholic Mass on January 12, we see two people "speaking truth to God." That sounds rough - even as I write it - and not a whole lot like the kind of prayer God might want. After all, He doesn't just know the truth, He is All Truth. And He's not just any old power that somebody might dare-tremble to confront. We're talking about Eternal Omnipotence for goodness sake! But I fully believe that when we pray, this All-Powerful, All-Knowing, Eternally Present God wants the truth from us - even when we are dead wrong.

In the first Mass reading (1 Samuel 1:9-20), Eli the priest sees  a woman named Hannah  "weeping copiously" in the Lord's temple for a long time. Praying silently, she moved her lips but could not be heard. Eli approached Hannah and scolded, "How long will you make a drunken show of yourself? Sober up from your wine!" But Hannah responded that she "was only pouring out (her) troubles to the Lord." Hannah was hurting bitterly because of her inability to conceive a child. And she confronted the Lord with the truth of her pain so aggressively - so emotionally - that the temple priest accused her of being drunk. She nearly got herself thrown out of the temple for passionately speaking the truth of her circumstances to God. But "in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son," Samuel, who became Judge over all of Israel and its first prophet.

In the gospel reading on January 12 (Mark 1:21-28) a man with an unclean spirit cries out to Jesus, 'What have you to do with us Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are -- the Holy One of God!" The man was tormented by satan, but he spoke honestly and powerfully to Jesus the thoughts that were genuinely in his heart. He sounds angry and even like he is accusing Christ of malice. You might expect that God would instantly make ash out of such a man. But Jesus commands the unclean spirit to be quiet and casts it out of the man. The man cried out the hard and painful truth of what he was experiencing and Jesus responded by setting him free.

Can we tell God honestly about our pain? Can we take that pain to Him and show it with real emotion - passionate emotion? Can we bitterly pour out our troubles, confusion, questions, and doubts to Him? Is it okay to tell God that you are angry with Him - and be angry while you are telling Him? Really, honestly showing your anger to Him and at Him? As a friend once advised me in a desperately troubled time, "You might as well tell Him. He knew you were angry at Him before you did."

Go ahead. Hit God with it - what is honestly on your mind, the truth of what you're feeling, what is genuinely in your spirit. Cry out. Pour out your troubles to Him - even your anger and sin. He always wants to hear from you. And, of course, He wants you to be completely honest about what you're feeling. You don't have to hide anything. He loves you. How much? He sent His Son to die for you. And, believe it or not, your emotional honesty won't break Him. He's been down this road once or twice before.

Speak truth to God, listen to what He says back, and know that He will move heaven and earth on your behalf. He gave Hannah a son who became a great prophet after she poured out her troubles. And He set the possessed man free. Cry out to Jesus and know that He loves you no matter what!
