How The Bible May Be Used For Depression Help

There are specific quotes in the Bible that target emotional health and well being and this should come as no surprise as this Book does cover, in my opinion the whole range of humanity, including depression and its symptoms. As a source of a help for depression, like perhaps any religious book, it could work wonders for dealing with depression-of course when used wisely.

These symptoms of depression, which consequently make us seek help, include feeling alone, having low-self esteem, a negative outlook on life and even in some more adverse cases, suicidal thoughts. Thankfully, there is a God who cares and His assistance in regards to a successful depression treatment remains unmatched. The key is you have to approach the methods the RIGHT WAY.

Most of us turn to prayer in seeking depression help, however as I've stated in previous articles, to get the answers you seek for your problems (which actually may lie within, by the way) will require a clear mind. This perhaps can come only from a cleaner body. Since fasting is advocated in several faiths, perhaps this is why most people in the Bible (or even the Quran) fasted before, during and after seeking God's help.

Remember drugless remedies have three limbs: Diet, exercise and Positive thinking. I've covered the diet and exercise part, let's deal with positive thoughts for depression help.

To strengthen your thoughts and emotional health with the Bible (obviously I am Christian folks, but I am sure any religious book will work), I refer you to what I label as thought conditioners that you can use for depression help in conjunction to the proper diet and exercises touched on in other articles.

Depression Help: Biblical Quotes for Positive Affirmations

1. Romans 12 verse 2: "Be ye Transformed by the renewing of your thoughts"

2. Nahum 1 verse 7: "The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble and He remembers those that trust in Him"

3. Isaiah 41 verse 10: "Fear not for I am with you, don't be dismayed for I am your God,

I will help you and make you strong and uphold you with my victorious Right Hand"

4. Hebrews 13 verse 5: "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

5. Psalm 23 verse 4: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

6. 1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation (problem) has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted (tested) beyond what you are able, but with the temptation (problem) will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."

Okay, I have to stop friends, why? Because there are TONS of verses you can draw spiritual strength and help for depression from. They are best personalized to make them work effectively as depression help tools for your situation.

You may choose to repeat them upon awakening or right before going to sleep to enable the thoughts to seek into your subconscious. Moreover, borrowing from my previous article on using Yoga for depression help, why not try affirming some of these words mentally in the wonderful and exhilarating corpse pose.

Remember though, as powerful as these verses are, to derive the best results, ensure to include the other limbs of drug-free healing being exercise and diet in regards to a successful depression help program.

So empower yourself today to a successful help for depression with biblical quotes and the right positive attitude.

May happiness be yours.

I've come clean about my depression...now what?

I've been suffering from symptoms of depression for the past three years, but I've pretty much kept it to myself. Until today.

The only problem is, now that my parents know, they are kind of freaking out. My dad basically told me that, if they send me to a doctor, they'll pretend that they understand, prescribe me some meds, and tell me to 'come back in two weeks.' That the only thing they'll care about is money.

That may be true, but I don't care. I just want these feelings to stop. And my dad's no help. He knows nothing about it, and he keeps saying that things will get better if I 'look to God.'

If my own parents are reluctant to get me help, what other choices do I have? I don't expect any miraculous overnight solution, but I do know that if I don't do anything, nothing will change. What should I do? -___-

You need to go to a psychologist or other doctor if you have a lot of depression symptoms. Your psychologist can talk to your parents if you want him or her to. He or she can explain to your parents that it is a mental problem and that they just want to help you. Try to explain to your parents that you really want help and you will pray about it but that you also think a professional would help. I'm sure they want the best for you, even if they don't understand fully what you are going through.

Do you have trouble talking to family members about clinical depression, or any kind of life's problems?

I don't like to talk to them about it, because they don't understand about the difference between clinical and situational depression, and it seems like they think a person has a choice. As most of you know, that choice may be easy with situational depression, but someone can not pull themselves out of the sickness depression. It is also hard because people think someone wants pity, but the truth is a person wants understanding from them so they can help the person and not cause him to be anymore depressed. I do take antidepressants and they help as long as my family are acting fine toward me, but sometimes they do and say things that make it worse. Things are really getting more and more serious, it's getting harder to hold on. I have had the problem for many years, but I have never been so tired of life as I have been lately. Do many of you know what I am talking about?

Yes, depression is hard to discuss. You know what it's like and All you want is for someone to empathize. While I am not clinically depressed I have some experience. Please keep in mind that people don't always know how to properly support those with such a deep sadness, and may even be afraid to allow themselves to get on that train of thought. Keep going to therepy, you CAN help yourself. Another bit of advice? Help others! Be the one that understands them, and by helping them you may help yourself. Lots of Luck!

Depression Zen Quotes:

I love mankind - it's people I can't stand. By Charles M. Schulz Go fly a Kite Charlie Brown Find out about Depression Zen

Laziness Does NOT exist! You Are Simply Unplugged From Your Creative Sexuality

MODE Of Cosmic therapy: Dispelling the Myth of Laziness

Laziness does not exist! When people accuse you, or when you accuse others of being lazy, you, as well as they, are misinformed. If you are alive, being lazy is not an option. Have you ever heard someone say, “He/she is too lazy to breathe?” Do you know how much energy it takes just to breathe? It’s no easy process though we humans take it for granted as we do everything else in our lives. The fact is; our lungs contain almost 1,500 miles of airways (inconceivable) and over 300 million alveoli (unimaginable) [the air sacs in our lungs  are where the exchange of gases oxygen/c002 take place]
With every 60 seconds that pass, humans breathe in 13 pints of air [molecules; 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, other small traces] To try to go into the extraneously complicated thermostatic process involved would take the better part of the night to explain. So, to keep the emphatic theme in tact, in the matter of simply breathing, being lazy is not possible!

The biggest waste of one’s precious time, effort and vital energy is to accuse someone (or yourself) of something so utterly absurd.  You can never get bored enough to entertain laziness. Idleness, maybe; laziness, never! When you perceive yourself or others as lazy, the point you are missing is the invariable truth: you have lost interest. No matter what the subject is that you are currently involved in, your attention has waned. When this occurs, things can go awry. No profitable account is served by extended disinterest. When you choose to be indolent by not tending to the soul’s needs of the hour, your life runs a muck.

The uninspired statue of your adulterated disinterested existence looms large and over-emphasized. Overemphasized to get your attention away from utter blah melancholy! In other words, you are numbed into a state of unconsciousness. You are as far removed from the state of peace and contentment, as you will ever be. There is a succinct reason why your body seeks to alleviate disinterest. You are a vibrantly charged sensual sexual artistic being who desires to be fully engaged in earth experiences that stimulate and titillate you! The same goes for education; you MUST be interested in the subject before you can gain any benefit from it. Some subjects simply don’t light a fire within. Don’t ever try to force your body to subjugate an interest which is not there.

If people perceive you or if you perceive yourself as lazy, investigate a little further. You have not yet ‘plugged into’ the artist within. The inspired artist is a ruthless savage of untenable spirit who will not be pacified with insignificant trinkets. Not easily impressed and less interested in impressing, the authentic artist must live as one invested in targeted laws unto himself. He will not compromise nor placate his fused sexuality! He lives as he chooses, when he chooses, how he chooses and with whom he chooses. He does not move when he does not want to. You call it lazy; he calls it self-massacre if he does what you want him to do simply to appease.

Unless you are actively pursuing specific passionate sensual sexual creative endeavors that you were born with to fulfill, your flagging energy will constantly be drained. You will ‘kinda’ drift along in a semi-conscious state among filth, disarray, unwashed clothes, dishes, floors, cars and yards. Overeating of fattening foods, indulging money on jewelry, clothes, shoes or an unmistakable obsession with flea market/yard sales will dominate your life as an attempt to fill this artistic void within. When you are acting upon disinterest at its highest level, you spend your time, effort, energy, and money inappropriately and irrespectively. Money represents energy. Energy needlessly dispensed creates havoc and apathy. Instead of spending money needlessly; callously, you could, should you be so inclined, invest in classes, courses, lessons or books that would spark any real artistic activity of genuine curiosity.

Also, you desire to further delve into your sexual habits. Disinterest is another clear indication you are not ‘plugged in to your one true love.” Sex generates, stimulates and motivates the true artistic impetus that would invoke an engrossed response. Fulfilling, rewarding, arousing, passionate, tantalizing, sizzling sexual activity produces the momentum to connect on deep profound levels. Magically, the art and act of caring about one’s home, car, yard, business and environment occurs naturally when one is actively engaged in a fully animated creative sexually motivated project. Find and pursue a work that you enjoy, exchange no hours in a day in work that you despise no matter the compensation.

Work is true joy. Work is salvation. To be fully engaged in an artistic sexual activity that brings satisfaction to the soul is the true meaning of life. Man has been honored with the gift of a pleasure filled sacred life to be cherished and cared for. You are not to squander, neglect or negate the duty of responsibility thereto attached. Ultimate pleasure demands salacious attention. No good and honorable thing can be attained by and through a refusal to invest 100%. Disinterest breeds self-scorn. You need not provide an existence of such low consciousness that denies the birthright of your pleasure filled inheritance.

Life is filled with many avenues of delightful artistic/musical/dramatic sexual expressions which encompass a vast array of incalculable choices to be seized. Least of all is the avenue of languor. Why consume a day in the forbearance of inactivity unless you are actively mentally engaged in pursuing a coveted secret passion? The body needs to be engaged in some sort of meaningful enthusiastic creativity. Even the trees are relentless in their creation year after year. Hands and feet cry out for movement or else they crystallize in stone.

Furthermore, when you force the responsibilities of your inactivity upon another, you add unnecessary weight to the scales of the out of balance existence. When disengaged, do not appear to be depressed. Be totally inactive but not moaning or bitchy. By fully engaging the mind in continuous self-study, contemplation and exploration, the heart is made strong and robust. The heart is accelerated and made healthy by movement.

Depression of the mind is not repression of the mind. The human spirit is elevated by and through the constant renewing of progressive movement. No genuine pleasure is derived by the act of ‘seeking to do as little as possible’. In fact, ‘doing nothing’ is the hardest feat in the world to accomplish! Exertion is governed through attitude. Sexuality is stimulated by altitudes! Move up and out! If your attitude is poor, DO MORE. Any attempt to get something for nothing will ultimately end in boring vanity and self-deprivation. Get out of the horizontal position into the vertical where the sun shines or the rain falls, where the air will restore your need to passionately spontaneously creatively express something. Whatever’s not going on with you, get it moving as you please but remember: gyrate in the circle that sacredly erotically matters to you!

Depression January 21 Quotes:

Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He's going to be up all night anyway. By Mary C. Crowley Find out about Depression January 21

speaking Truth Unto God

From the realm of politics I sometimes hear the phrase, "Speak truth to power." It sounds like a battle cry of the oppressed or somebody standing up to authorities and holding them accountable.

In the scriptures for the daily Catholic Mass on January 12, we see two people "speaking truth to God." That sounds rough - even as I write it - and not a whole lot like the kind of prayer God might want. After all, He doesn't just know the truth, He is All Truth. And He's not just any old power that somebody might dare-tremble to confront. We're talking about Eternal Omnipotence for goodness sake! But I fully believe that when we pray, this All-Powerful, All-Knowing, Eternally Present God wants the truth from us - even when we are dead wrong.

In the first Mass reading (1 Samuel 1:9-20), Eli the priest sees  a woman named Hannah  "weeping copiously" in the Lord's temple for a long time. Praying silently, she moved her lips but could not be heard. Eli approached Hannah and scolded, "How long will you make a drunken show of yourself? Sober up from your wine!" But Hannah responded that she "was only pouring out (her) troubles to the Lord." Hannah was hurting bitterly because of her inability to conceive a child. And she confronted the Lord with the truth of her pain so aggressively - so emotionally - that the temple priest accused her of being drunk. She nearly got herself thrown out of the temple for passionately speaking the truth of her circumstances to God. But "in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son," Samuel, who became Judge over all of Israel and its first prophet.

In the gospel reading on January 12 (Mark 1:21-28) a man with an unclean spirit cries out to Jesus, 'What have you to do with us Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are -- the Holy One of God!" The man was tormented by satan, but he spoke honestly and powerfully to Jesus the thoughts that were genuinely in his heart. He sounds angry and even like he is accusing Christ of malice. You might expect that God would instantly make ash out of such a man. But Jesus commands the unclean spirit to be quiet and casts it out of the man. The man cried out the hard and painful truth of what he was experiencing and Jesus responded by setting him free.

Can we tell God honestly about our pain? Can we take that pain to Him and show it with real emotion - passionate emotion? Can we bitterly pour out our troubles, confusion, questions, and doubts to Him? Is it okay to tell God that you are angry with Him - and be angry while you are telling Him? Really, honestly showing your anger to Him and at Him? As a friend once advised me in a desperately troubled time, "You might as well tell Him. He knew you were angry at Him before you did."

Go ahead. Hit God with it - what is honestly on your mind, the truth of what you're feeling, what is genuinely in your spirit. Cry out. Pour out your troubles to Him - even your anger and sin. He always wants to hear from you. And, of course, He wants you to be completely honest about what you're feeling. You don't have to hide anything. He loves you. How much? He sent His Son to die for you. And, believe it or not, your emotional honesty won't break Him. He's been down this road once or twice before.

Speak truth to God, listen to what He says back, and know that He will move heaven and earth on your behalf. He gave Hannah a son who became a great prophet after she poured out her troubles. And He set the possessed man free. Cry out to Jesus and know that He loves you no matter what!

of the activities you used to enjoy to the extent that your daily routines are

now being affected, then you could be suffering from some form of depression.

There are many symptoms associated with

depression and not everyone will experience the same ones nor with the same

degree of intensity. Consequently,
diagnosing and

treating depression can be problematic as it is important to rule out other

possible causes of the symptoms such as an underlying medical condition,

substance abuse, or normal responses to say, bereavement, that of course will

result in feelings of sadness and despondency but which are not considered true

depression.

One way of finding out if you could be

suffering from depression is to take a depression test. Depression tests are

often used by health professionals in the first instance to assess whether

depression is indicated, and if so, how severe the depression might be.
There are many tests available but one of

the most popular is the Goldberg test.

The Goldberg Test

This test was designed by Dr Ivan Goldberg and

consists of 18 questions, each of which are answered by the individual using a

sliding scale of responses based on how they have felt during the previous week.

Once all the questions are answered, the scores (in brackets) are added up to

give a final score and an indication of whether depression is likely. This test

can also be useful to check periodically to see if the symptoms of depression

are improving or getting worse as any change of 5 points or more in either

direction is considered to be significant.

Sliding scale of responses

Not at all (0)

A little (1)

Somewhat (2)

Moderately (3)

Quite a lot (4)

Very much (5)

Questions
1 I do things slowly
2 My future appears hopeless
3 It is hard for me to concentrate on reading
4 The pleasure and fun has gone out of my life
5 I find it hard to make decisions
6 I have lost interest in things that used to be important to me
7 I feel unhappy, depressed and sad
8 I feel agitated and unable to relax
9 I feel tired
10 It takes a lot of effort for me to do simple things
11 I feel guilty and I deserve to be punished
12 I feel like a failure
13 I feel numb and lifeless, more dead than alive
14 My sleep is disturbed; I'm sleeping too much or too little
15 I spend time thinking HOW I can commit suicide
16 I feel trapped or confined
17 I feel depressed even when good things happen to me
18 I have lost weight or put it on without being on a diet

Scoring If your score was less than 9 then depression is not indicated. Between

10 and 17 – possibly some minor depression Between 18 and 21 – maybe on the

verge of depression Between 22 and 35 – minor to moderate depression indicated

Between 36 and 53 – moderate to severe depression possible Over 54 – possibly

suffering from severe depression

The Beck Depression Inventory Test

Another popular test is the
Beck Depression

Inventory test often used by mental health professionals. This test is based

on 21 self-reported questions that correspond closely to the symptoms of

depression as outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental

Disorders 4th Edition. Each response is based on how the individual has felt

over the previous two weeks. All of the responses to the questions are

identified by a score of 0, 1, 2 or 3, which are then added together at the end

to give a final score.

The answers to the questions are intended to

give an indication of how a person views how they are functioning

psychologically and physically, and how they appear to be coping on a daily

basis. For example, responses will give an idea of:

• How sad you are feeling

• How you view the future

• If you feel like a failure

• Your level of satisfaction from activities

• If you feel guilty

• If you feel deserving of punishment

• How disappointed you are in yourself

• If you often blame yourself

• Whether you have thoughts of suicide

• How often you cry

• If you feel irritated and annoyed a lot of the time

• How much interest you have in other people and social situations

• Your ability to make decisions

• How you view yourself and your appearance

• Your ability to carry out your work

• Your sleeping patterns

• Your energy levels

• Your appetite

• Any weight fluctuations

• If you are fearful or worry about physical symptoms and health

• If you have lost interest in sex

Conclusion

It's important to remember that no test, no

matter how good it is, can give you a reliable diagnosis. If you think you or

someone close to you are experiencing symptoms of depression then you should

seek professional advice either from a GP or other health professional for an

accurate diagnosis and appropriate help. Your GP will be able to discuss

symptoms with you in much more detail and will be able to identify other factors

that might be influencing how you are feeling. Once an accurate diagnosis is

made then treatment options can be discussed that will help get you back to how

you used to be. see More Articles at

Depression Buddhism Quotes:

How much pain they have cost us the evils which have never happened. By Thomas Jefferson Find out about Depression Buddhism

The (in)validity of Personality

Do you have a trait, an addiction, or a disorder that causes you suffering? If you were offered an instant, painless way to stop the OCD, ADD, depression, panic attacks, addiction, angry outbursts, impatience, or shyness, would you want it? What if this treatment could wipe out a particularly traumatic memory for you?

This isn’t science fiction. Many of the disorders that were once considered to be in the domain of psychology and psychiatry are now treated as neurological problems or chemical imbalances. MRIs are giving us a window into the mind/brain that is creating a proliferation of treatment options never before imagined.

In a recent article, researchers described implanting a pacemaker deep into the brain of a severely depressed woman. Minutes later, a smile lit up her face. By her own description, it had been twelve years since she had smiled. Other people suffering from depression were also implanted with the device and the results look promising, not only for depression, but for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

If a small electrical device sending out intermittent pulses can, within minutes, literally put a smile on the face of someone who has felt emotionally dead for years, what does this have to say about our personalities? How much of how we identify ourselves is really our Self?

As children, we are often compared to others who share our genes. “She has her mother’s eyes.” “That pout is just like his uncle’s.” “She’s stubborn, just like…” We learn to identify our Self by our traits, which we usually feel at least somewhat stuck with. By the time we are working adults, many of us have further identified ourselves (or our employers have) through personality profiles such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. We know whether we are ESTJs (Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judging) or INFPs (Introversion, iNtuition, feeling, Perceiving). Discovering our personality style can help us understand our motivations and quirks as well as help us get along with others. However, is it possible to over-identify with our labels?

Perhaps you have researched the Sufi-derived Enneagram. If so, you know “your number.” For example, a Four on the Enneagram is the Romantic, Aesthete, Individualist. According to the Enneagram, as quoted by Wikipedia, “Fours embrace individualism and are often profoundly creative and intuitive and at best they are very humane. However, they have a habit of withdrawing to internalize, searching desperately inside themselves for something they never find and creating a spiral of depression.” This may be very helpful information for a Four. But might a Four (or any other “Number”) take this data and invalidate other aspects of him/her Self?

If a little electronic device could be implanted in a Four and the depression circumvented, is the person no longer a Four? Was the depression part of this person’s personality or was it a byproduct of a “misfiring” of the brain that required only some high-tech tweaking to correct it? Would the Four miss aspects of the depression? Did it fuel his/her creativity or intuition? Is the Four’s capacity for empathy/humanity a result of a deep understanding of what it means to suffer? Would others miss something in the Four? Would some of life’s lessons be lost along with the depression? Does growth require suffering?

If you are waiting for me to answer these questions, you will have to wait longer because I’m still finding more questions to ask! If a shock from a tiny electrode can instantly lift years of depression or alleviate the symptoms of OCD, it becomes compelling to question what “free will” means. Is our Self simply the sum total of our brain’s synapses? If these synapses are altered, how does this impact our sense of Self? What do you want to change about yourself? Are you willing to risk letting go of your former sense of Self to make the changes?

If depression or rage or shyness can be “zapped,” might this information encourage us to let go of our prior judgments about others’ behaviors or even our own? Maybe for all our best efforts, some of us are simply more prone to being quick to anger or too shy to make eye contact or too lacking in self-esteem to give ourselves a pep talk or feel inspired by affirmations. Maybe laziness or self-centeredness is built in.

What if you were just one quick fix away from being “cured” of any of these “flaws”? If flipping a switch eliminated the need for therapy, reading self-help books, meditating, taking anti-depressants and/or anti-anxiety meds, or having to risk your health, relationships, job, and freedom because you self-medicate with drugs and alcohol; that is, if a zap could eliminate your suffering and, most importantly, make you happy, would you utilize it?

Brain pacemaker research doesn’t lead me to answers to these questions but it does lead me to realizing the value of paying attention to my thoughts. Every day, we consciously or unconsciously choose our thoughts, which then trigger our emotions, which either change or reinforce our beliefs, all contributing to what we call our personality.

The Buddhists teach us that no enemy can harm us as much as our own worst thoughts. The opposite is perhaps also true: No one can help us as much as our own best thoughts. Our thoughts, whether stimulated by a machine or by a sunset, by biofeedback or by listening to music, influence our perceptions, our identification with our personality, and our sense of happiness. Implant or no implant, instant fix or years of meditation, therapy or medication, exercise endorphins or affirmations, if we pay closer attention to our thoughts, allow compassion for our own and others’ feelings, and question the authority of our beliefs, hopefully, we will find both meaning and delight in discovering our truer Self.

Should I go for an all Japanese Zen decor in my house?

I'd love to have my home decorated in Zen aesthetics. It fits in my my practice of Buddhism and Zen meditation and brings tranquility and calm to my mind completely. It is also theraputic as I have depression and Asperger's.
However the fact is I have some pieces of furniture and decor that aren't Zen but I either like/have sentimental value/fit into other pleasing aesthetics.
Any ideas on the best decor path for my new home?

why not just do several of the main rooms you use in this style at first in order to keep your other pieces of furnitature italso gives you cance to see if you can liv in this way all of the time. do you have a relative or a garage which could store the furniture you so in the future they would still be available for you if you changed your mind

Some patients I see are actually draining into their bodies the diseased thoughts of their minds. By Zacharty Bercovitz Find out about Depression Is Contagious

Battling Depression: Self-help Tips

Depression can hit anyone at any age. Depression is not something people make up. The symptoms of depression can be at a low level or be very severe. You may feel nearly paralyzed in everyday life and unable to function normally.

Depression can cause a multitude of symptoms and be derived from various factors. If you are experiencing depression, your appetite may be affected, either decreasing or increasing. You may lose interest in things you once loved to do or lack energy to do anything. You may sleep much more than usual, suffer from insomnia or even have suicidal thoughts.

Even though you may be receiving guidance and treatment from your doctor, there are methods you can utilize to help yourself win the battle.

Self-help tips for battling depression:

* Some medications can cause a state of depression. It's important to discuss this with your doctor. If you are taking any type of medication, ask your doctor about the side effects you are experiencing. A change in medication may alleviate the depression.

* Recognize your negative thoughts. These negative thoughts contribute to depression. It's like pouring fuel onto the fire. Negative thoughts go hand-in-hand with depression. It's important to do your best to alleviate those negative thoughts. Take notice of your accomplishments, no matter how small. Everyone has purpose and something to offer in this life. Recognize your value and place that value on yourself so that you have a more positive mind set.

* Don't be so hard on yourself that your expectations are too high. This puts a lot of pressure on, unnecessarily. Concentrate on the areas of life you can control. You need to let go of what you absolutely can do nothing about. A strong focus on what you have no control over is a waste of energy and can cause a sense of failure.

* When you are depressed, your appetite may be nearly non-existent. It's important to eat healthy foods. The right nutrients can help with your overall well-being and help you battle stress and depression. Even drinking something like Ensure will provide you with nutrients you need.

* Exercise is a great stress reducer. Depression can cause a great loss of energy and make you feel unable to exercise. It's important to do your best and try to do at least a little exercise daily. Exercise in small steps if you need to. Enlist an exercise buddy that will help you stay motivated.

* Surround yourself in nature. Nature has a way of creating a soothing atmosphere, which can be healing to the body and mind. Even sitting on your porch in the sunshine a few minutes a day, is better than isolating yourself inside so much. Depression often causes us to want to close ourselves off from the world, but getting out just a little each day can be beneficial.

* Everyday tasks can seem overwhelming when you are under the spell of depression. Prioritize the necessities. Break down what you need to do into small steps. Do one step at a time and feel a sense of accomplishment with each completed task. Knowing you need to do something and not getting it done, can add to stress and depression.

* Involve your mind. Keeping your mind active with positive activities can help ward off any negatives that try to get in. An inactive mind can be a stomping ground for destructive thoughts to take over. If you enjoy reading, read only books that are inspirational and uplifting. Do crossword puzzles or anything that exercises your mind in a positive and constructive way.

* When you are depressed, you may feel the world has turned against you. This isn't true. Don't isolate yourself. Turn to others for support. Allow your voice to be heard. Your feelings and thoughts are as important as anyone else's. Don't hold secret what you are going through. That only makes the battle tougher.

* Surround yourself with positive people. Surrounding yourself with negative people will cause you to feel more depressed. I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "laughter is contagious". So is positive energy from positive people.

* Even at our lowest point, we can find a way to help others. Reaching out to others and feeling a sense of purpose is uplifting and helps us take a break from our own problems. When we see what others are going through, it gives us perspective. We are helping someone else and feel less alone in our struggle.

* Above all else, turn to God. When we increase our spiritual growth, our overall well-being is benefited.

Important: If you are having suicidal thoughts, seek help immediately.

Don't allow depression to steal your happiness and possibly your life!

Natural Acne Treatments Banned?

It's no secret that the Food and Drug Administration and big pharmaceutical companies have cooperated to ban safe natural alternatives treatments so that greedy executives can gain more profit. And treating acne is not an exception.

To give giant pharmaceutical corporations more control over your health, you haven't been told the entire truth. Now before you dismiss this as just some wild conspiracy, let's look into one example.

One of the most celebrated depression treatments of our time is Prozac. It utilizes the serotonin (the happy brain chemical) available in your body to make you feel happy or at the very least, less depressed. It was praised in Newsweek as 'A Breakthrough drug for Depression' and everybody was happy.

The downside is that some of the side effects are quite disturbing. They include anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, insomnia, irritability, hostility, aggressiveness, hypomania, reproductive, and developmental toxicity. Far from being the 'breakthrough' drug for depression, don't you agree?

Interestingly, at about the same time, numerous studies have proven that the natural amino acid called L-tryptophan is just as effective (or even better) than Prozac for depression patients. The side effect? There are none.

Why didn't it appear on the front cover of Newsweek? Or more importantly, why did the FDA ban the amino acid during the time when Prozac was being heavily promoted by the pharmaceutical company?

But here's the point: the drugs prescribed by your doctor or dermatologist to treat acne may not be the best or even the most effective compared to lesser known anti-acne nutrients clinical shown to get rid of acne.

Doctors and dermatologists make more money selling these drugs than recommending natural alternatives, so it's only natural for them to be ignorant of the major nutritional influences on acne.

As a Rutgers Law Journal article pointed out: 'Political pressures have played a role in the FDA's decision to ban L-tryptophan as well as its desire to increase its regulatory power over dietary supplements.'

If these 'regulatory powers' are willing to ban the safe natural alternative (Tryptophan) in favor of it's synthetic drug (Prozac) - is there a possibility that there are safer natural acne treatments other than the health destroying antibiotics or Accutane? The good news is that effective natural acne treatments are out there.

There are exciting new studies that are suggesting that certain natural nutrients are just as powerful as prescription in getting rid of acne. Just do some homework and you'll find out what they are. That is something to think about when swallowing another hazardous prescription drug with side-effects worst than having acne itself.

Brad Thomas PhD is a researcher for Acne Rx and has found a natural, safe, effective alternative to get rid of acne without the harmful side effects of prescription. If you want more information on how powerful anti-acne nutrients can get rid of your acne visit: www.ClearSkinSecret.com

SOCIETy AN eye-opener?

I just read an eye-opening article about sadness and society. It discusses how sadness is almost shunned or assumed to be depression. Do you think our society has came to the point where once you're not always happy people avoid you & think you're sad? What's your opinion.
Below is the link to the article if you'd like to read it.

Of course there is truth in the old adage. Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone.

Most people do not want to be near sadness, it is very draining. But being near happy people makes you feel energized and happy.

Fear is the highest fence. By Dudley Nichols Find out about Depression Newsweek

Hcg Diet: What Parents Can Do To Help Their Kids Overcome Obesity

As the healthcare debate rages throughout the nation and we consider the impact obesity has on the issue, many supporters of the HCG diet suggest that perhaps the diet may provide the solution. The HCG diet is not intended for kids. However, parents who establish a healthy weight can be a powerful influence over their obese children.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that our government spends an incredible $147 billion each year on medical issues directly connected to obesity. Issues like type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, depression and cancer. These chronic diseases not only impact the health of the individual, but also the length and quality of their life.

Obesity and Life Expectancy

Last year, Oxford University released the results of research they conducted on one million obese individuals from around the world. The study showed that even "moderate obesity" can cut one's life expectancy by 3 years and "severe obesity reduces one's life expectancy by as much as 10 years.

Sadly, this means that as many parents are having children later in life, they may not live to see their grandchildren. Even more astonishing are the results of several studies, which suggest that this generation of obese children may be the first generation to not outlive their parents! That is, if the tide isn't turned and quickly.

Michelle Obama Proposes Solution

Michelle Obama confronted this issue head on by penning a Newsweek cover story entitled: Feed Your Children Well: My Fight Against Obesity. In the article, Mrs. Obama explains, "our kids didn't do this to themselves. Our kids don't decide what's served in the school cafeteria or whether there's time for gym class or recess. Our kids don't choose to make food products with tons of sugar and sodium in supersize portions, and then have those products marketed to them everywhere they turn. And no matter how much they beg for fast food and candy, our kids shouldn't be the ones calling the shots at dinnertime. We're in charge. We make these decisions."

Lifelong Habits for Health

Mrs. Obama puts the responsibility of childhood obesity squarely on the shoulders of the adults of the nations. She points out that as parents we can have tremendous influence on our children, their health and their weight.

Study after study shows that obese parents tend to have obese children. When parents are able to get their weight under control by eating nutritious foods and exercising regularly, they are then prepared to help their children develop these same healthy habits.

For some adults, especially those with a BMI of more than 30, the HCG diet has enabled them to achieve results that energized them to continue working toward developing healthy habits for life, for themselves and for their kids.

St. John's Wort for anxiety and depression?

I figured I'd try every possible road to relieve all my anxiety or depression, or at least lower it to a bearable state where I don't feel like I want to die every day, lol.. Started seeing a psychologist, don't plan on taking any major medications because everything talks about how they're only temporary relief.. Also started doing yoga, trying to cut caffeine out of my diet and eat a bit better..

But anyway, what to you DO with St. John's Wort? I heard it mentioned on numerous sources, but I don't really know what it is, and if it really helps or not. Haha, it sounds so intimidating, especially with the word Wort in there.. :P Ew.

I have taken St Johns Wort and would not recommend it at all. A friend recommended it to me, I was stressed at work and she said it would make me more relaxed. It actually affected my moods and I became very moody. It also interacts with the contraceptive pill.

All the best,
