When trading Forex, it is essential - there are so many errors you can do that can easily be avoided by advice from people who made and lived to tell the story. So attention to these 20 tips to succeed and implement in your business and you may also be a survivor.

1 - Be careful with the demo accounts. Although the demo accounts are perfect for teaching you the ropes of forex trading, they can be dangerous sometimes. Because they are not strictly realistic, they can give you unrealistic expectations or caused you to formulate strategies unworkable.

2 - Keep a broad perspective. Focusing exclusively on investments short-term business plans may work for some time, but in the end, you end up losing money. You must have a plan and a goal for the future, as well as plans for the moment.

3 - Pay attention to technical conditions. You need to know if the market is larger in the short or long passed. Sudden changes or spikes generally occur during one of these extreme conditions.

4 - Do not be fooled fortunately temporary. Forex is never a question of luck. If things go well and your investments yield high profits, do not get arrogant or presumptuous. You must recognize the fact that sometimes you must make mistakes and you should always be on the lookout to avoid them.

5 - Take your losses bravely. It is normal to be disappointed, mad, angry or a loss and a mistake, but not to worry about it. And do not sink into depression. 7 - Trade for the right reasons. Never trade just because you're bored and it does not seem to be something else to do. If nothing else to do, which means that is not smart to trade on the market. So just be patient.

8 - Make sure the right broker. Having the wrong broker mess up everything in your Forex trading career. Make sure the broker you have is sufficient and properly accomplish the task.

9 - Focus on single currency at a time. It is very dangerous to trade in many currencies at one time or right after one another. The more currencies you do, the less time you have to control them completely. It is better to focus on one or two and learn thoroughly and completely detail.

10 - Endure. Do not give up easily just because you make a mistake or bored with the market. Go ahead and hold on and you'll see that it was worthwhile in the long term.

11 - Do not act in haste. Jumping the gun will prove to be harmful and you will lose. Stay calm and be patient!

12 - Beware of your pride. Pride and afraid to admit that you were wrong after you've made a small mistake will only lead to more errors that will cost you more than your small initial error. So swallow your pride and re-evaluate your system.

13 - Focus on what you made. While being completely absorbed in the short term can lead to long-term losses, is also the reverse. Reverie on the future will only lead to a lack of opportunities and making bad decisions in the present. So keep your mind in the moment and trade intelligently with an idea for the future, even a plan yet.

14 - Do not be too smart. It sounds ridiculous, but honestly it's true! Do not overanalyze your projects and make them so complicated and full of details. The more details you have the greater the chances are that something will go wrong. So keep it simple, clear and reasonable.

15 - Beware of over-trading. It is possible to share too much at one time or one day. Do not delay, but neither try to do everything at once. Make a plan that follows a precise timetable and spread your business properly, in practice, and realistically.

The vast majority of an educated modern populace has developed a pretty vivid tapestry of what life was like during the “Great Depression”. The visions of struggling dirt farmers like the Joad’s in Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath”, the big city soup lines, the tent cities for thousands of homeless and photographs of men selling apples on street corners have burnished in many of us a searing image of hopelessness and despair.

Today, the United States is sharing the most serious economic malady since the “Great Depression” with countries all over the world. While not approaching the absolute calamity of the 1930’s, the damage done to our wallets and psyches is nevertheless daunting and bruising. Businesses, organizations and individuals are understandably fearful and have curtailed spending in lieu of conserving capital. Risk taking, the key to maximizing gain, has been virtually shut down. Small business growth and development has been strangled. Entrepreneurs have hunkered down, fearful of the vagaries of a marketplace that seems to have no stomach for new products and ideas.

In times like these it pays to study the lessons of history. The Great Depression was bleak for so many, of course. Nevertheless, it was actually a fertile era for creativity and entrepreneurial activity.

People were desperate to make every purchase count, to leverage every dollar spent and obtain maximum value. The result was that an exciting array of creative breakthroughs came to market to satisfy the greater demand for economy.

The importance of consumer advertising was magnified and became a much more critical tool utilized by packaged goods manufacturers to woo value conscious consumers. Heinz ketchup, Palmolive soap, Campbell soup, Westinghouse appliances, Revlon and Max Factor cosmetics and Hormel Spam enjoyed an explosion of growth created by new sales promotion concepts. Billboards, mass advertising, coupons and sampling became ubiquitous. Local, regional and national agencies evolved to assist manufacturers in promoting their products in new, exciting ways. Barn advertising for tobacco products and Burma Shave road signs added needed revenue to beleaguered farmers and roadside landowners.

The Studebaker Motor Company had evolved from a 19th century maker of hand carts and wheelbarrows to a struggling auto carriage manufacturer. The Company enjoyed modest success until the Great Depression. Recognizing opportunity, Studebaker went back to its roots as a maker of work conveyances and began to produce the Studebaker paneled work truck. At a price of around $600, this workhorse vehicle enabled thousands of laborers, handymen and small contractors to eke out a living hauling, building and scratch farming.

The ball point pen, nylon, the radio, radar, the Land camera, the photocopier, sticky tape, the television, FM radio band, the helicopter, the jet engine and the electric razor are only a few of the inventions that were perfected and came to market during the 1930’s. Inventors did not stop their pursuit of fresh, valuable innovations. They seized the reality they were confronted with and targeted practical solutions to problems that needed to be addressed at that time.

The same opportunity is available today. The opportunity to create products or services that offer great utility and excellent value is appreciated by the consumer more than at any time in recent memory. There is a rush to basics, store brands, no frills products that perform and are sturdy. The inventor that can address these contemporary needs will find a willing acceptance from investors, consumers and retailers.

There is never a better time than NOW to launch a product, start a business or license a product. This is true when markets are booming, or when the economy is in a trough. There are always excuses made for not making a sale, not closing a deal or not taking that chance, that chance that can change one’s life. Every economic age offers the opportunity for success for those willing to address real needs with inventiveness. History offers us plenty of proof.

Could this be the depression?

Everything seemed fine in my life before a month or so ago. I am engaged to be married in a couple of years from now with a beautiful and loving girl. I started to get this unwanted images and thoughts in my head about all sorts of shit, including violence, unwanted sexual images, and a whole bunch of anxiety. Well what is really bugging me lately is that nowadays when I tell my fiance that I love her, i have this feeling of guilt, even sometimes when I touch her. But when I think of losing her or her being gone for along time, I get this feeling of anxiety and pain, like I know I would miss her alot. I have been seeing a phycologist and am seeing a phyciatrist next week, but with all of these thoughts I've never had before, could it be the depression messing with my mind? Because before I was diagnosed with it, I've never questioned my love for my fiance or our future. I guess I'm just so confused, sometimes everything seems great then I go back to a sad, confusing, unsure state.

It sounds like you may be having anxiety attacks and that can be paired with depression. This is important enough to see a doctor for. They won't think you are crazy.

What did we do differently to pull America out of the Great Depression than traditionally in American history?

FDR set up the WPA (works progress administration) that gave jobs to a fifth of the labor force. They built bridges and buildings and highways. While this didn't completely solve unemployment, it certainly helped. Also, the Depression ended around 1939 and WWII began about 1942. The army gave jobs to tons of people, also helping pull the economy back up. It's not like there was just the army, there were army related jobs too (building weapons, sending supplies, getting food, etc.).

Quilting Patterns and the Great Depression

The Great Depression was an era that created quite a challenge for women who desired to quilt. Not only was money very tight in households, but there were limited supplies nationwide. Women had to turn to creativity and resourcefulness in order to create beautiful quilts. Some popular quilts of today were actually born from The Great Depression.

The Great Depression, for those of us who weren't around at the time, was an economic slump in North America, Europe, and other industrialized areas of the world that began in 1929 and lasted until about 1939. Begun with the collapse of agricultural prices in the 1920's, it's most well-known for the 1929 collapse of Wall Street. It was the longest and most severe depression ever experienced by the industrialized Western world.

Bankers and other previously weather individuals who lost everything jumped to their deaths from buildings. Workers who could find jobs still struggled to be able to feed their families. With the total collapse of the economy, people found creative ways to brings in small amounts of cash while businesses had to become creative to survive by vying for a portion of that hard-earned money from their customers.

So it's easy to see why companies selling quilt fabrics, threads and tools had to find a way to create value in their products and encourage quilters to continue to spend such hard-earned cash. Luckily for them, quilts were a necessity that had to be created by hand because the severe economic times limited the ability to purchase them.

Women magazines began offering similar quilting patterns for free with each issue to increase their readership. After all, most household budgets could not afford to purchase a magazine, yet alone several quilting patterns.

So to continue selling magazines and to promote the purchase of fabrics, many vendors chose to offer free patterns that would encourage the purchases. Patterns such as the Star of Bethlehem, Wedding Ring, Grandmother's Flower Garden and even Dresden Plate are just some of the patterns we still use today that were actually the result of The Great Depression.

Often women would share one magazine. They would trace the quilting patterns or even a picture from a quilt photographed for the magazine to make their own patterns at home. The most popular magazines would occasionally offer iron-on quilt patterns. These were extremely well received since several women could share not only the cost of the magazine but could share the iron-on patterns for their quilting.

Thus, offering free quilting patterns actually became a common marketing tradition that is still used today.

I found it particularly interesting that what was used to market to women and sell women's magazines in The Great Depression is still used today. Many companies even offer free patterns in their magazines for quilting and other crafts.

Ok so for one of my classes we have to write a journal entry. So we have a picture from the great depression and we have to pretend we are one of the people in the picture.

picture description: an old couple and a grandson walking on a dirt road in the desert.

story: August 31, 1936
Today me, my husband, and our grandson have just lost our home to the dust bowl, and we are going to have to find a new home. But since the drought we have no clue how we are going to aford one. My husband told me today that we might just have to sleep in the dirt tonight if we don’t find some place to stay. I hope we find a home that hasn’t been hit by these horible dust storms, or even an abanded shack. I am very worried about my husband because I don’t know how far he can go since with his leg problems and all. I’m also worried about my grandson who has a terrible fever with no medicine to take. I am very thankful the we all got out alive and that we have each other.

Abraham Lincoln's Battle with Depression

It is said that the true measure of a man is not seen in times of victory, but in moments of great challenge.  A hero, in the true sense of the word, is not about accomplishing incredible feats due to strength, power, and authority.  Heroism is best exemplified by men and women who strive for accomplishment inspite of overwhelming odds and latent weaknesses. Abraham Lincoln was one such hero.

In his book entitled, The Inner World of Abraham Lincoln, the author Michael Burlingame attempted to explain the roots of the former U.S. president's depression.  Burlingame claims that the death of Lincoln's mother was the cause and the beginning of Lincoln's lifelong battle with melancholia.  The book also reveals that as a young child, the future president had to endure the pain and grief of losing a newborn brother, a sister, an uncle, and an aunt.  These deaths became embedded in the young Lincoln's psyche, resulting in a series of deep sadness.

Overcoming depression,  it can be argued, was Lincoln's greatest feat as a human being.  His long list of failures and defeats would surely overwhelm a lesser man.   

In 1832, he lost his job abd was defeated in his first attempt to win a legislative seat.  The following year, his business collapsed and he spent the next 17 years paying-off his debt.

In 1835, his fiance died, which then made him suffer from a nervous breakdown.

In 1838, he ran for speaker of the Illinois State Legislature and lost.

In 1843, he again ran for Congress but failed to get nominated.  Four years later, he again tried in vain to run for Congress.

In 1854, Lincoln tried his hand at running for the Senate and, again, he lost.  Two years later, he ran for Vice President but failed to convince his partymates to nominate him.

And even when he was elected 1860 as the 16th U.S. President, he faced a country that was being torn by a civil war that claimed more than 600,000 lives.  

With all the stress and anxiety that he has gone through, it is no wonder that Abraham Lincoln often looked forlorn, tired, and weak in many of his official photographs.  One can only imagine the sheer burden of making decisions that would impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children during a time when America was divided unto itself.  

How many sleepless nights did he have almost endlessly pacing his room in deep thought?  What kind of torment did he experience just pondering about the thousands of lives that were lost because of the war?  As commander-in-chief of the Federal Army, his decisions spelled the difference between life and death for each and every infantryman.  Yet somehow, inspite of all the failures and heartaches in his life, Abraham Lincoln was able to pull through and lead a nation.  Even in the middle of crippling psychological and emotional upheavals, he was able to win the war and keep the Union together.

During Lincoln's time, the medical and scientific community still had no name for manic depressive disorder.   The psychological disorder was simply called "melancholia." In those days, there were no psychiatrists, antidepressant prescriptions, counseling, and group therapy available as we know them today.  

Indeed, during the nation's darkest hour, Abraham Lincoln was able to ride above the storms of his life and lead as President.  While he was never able to achieve complete emancipation from his psychological problems like the freedom that was won for the Negro slaves,  Lincoln heroically faced the obstacles and hardships to become America's most revered president.

Please help me find this song?!?

I heard a song earlier that I really liked but never heard the name or who it was buy... It's a country song that talks about a boy looking through old photographs and his grandfathers tells him that the pic was from 1935 and he was 11 and the pic was of him and a friend during the great depression... then he says if we look like we're scared to death you're right but you "shoulda seen it in color"........ throughout the rest of the song they see a pic of him in 1945 during the war and it goes through the chorus again then theres another pic about him and the kids grandmother and it goes through the chorus one last time...

if anybody knows this song please help... i've tried putting "should of seen it in color" into a search but no luck...
I think the DJ might have said it was by Chevy Johnson??? but when I put that into a search all it pulled up was Jimmie Johnson driving a chevy... damn nascar... lol

Ten Tips for Easing Depression

Depression can be brought about by many factors: winter weather can trick the mind into believing that thoughts and emotions should be as gray and dull as the world. The death of a loved one can erase hope and quickly turn happiness into despair. The break up of a relationship, the dissolution of a family, the loss of one's job - the list of causes is endless, and the list of repercussions is as equally infinite.

Depression can tax both on the mind and body. Constantly dark thoughts have driven people to despair, self-mutilation or even suicide. Deep, bottled-up emotions can lessen one's appetite, or raise it considerably, causing extremely high changes in weight. Inner rage and anger can raise blood pressure, causing body organs to function improperly, or even leading to greater chances of a heart attack.

If you are suffering from depression, you may be subscribed antidepressant medication. This medication, however, can work only with the proper environment and mindset. You may need to modify your outlook or channel your energy into other activities that can help you ease your depression. To turn your blue day into a red letter one, take note of these ten depression-easing tips.

1. Express your feelings through art. Painting pictures of what bothers you can help you devote more energy into the task of making your thoughts manifest. Your concentration will therefore be on turning your work into art, not in focusing on your state of depression. If you are not into painting or drawing, you can also make sculptures.

2. Write poetry. Writing about what you feel can be a way of channeling your energy away from your thoughts, and into making plain words beautiful. If poetry is too difficult for you, you may want to write essays or short fiction.

3. Keep a gratitude journal. At the end of every day, list ten things that you are thankful for. A gratitude journal can change your outlook on life, and allow you to focus on what is good in the midst of what you might believe to be ugly or evil.

4. Do not engage in a menial or routine task too frequently, such as tilling the soil for gardening, or washing dishes. Such tasks can make your mind wander back to your depression. If you are doing such tasks, make sure that you have a friend to perform them with, so that you can conduct a conversation and keep your mind off your state.

5. Do thorough research on your antidepressants. These medicines may have side effects that have not yet been documented in marketing literature, so you may want to check out contraindications.

6. Join an online group that helps depression patients or sufferers share their stories. Support and human interaction can help you through your depression. If you have a local depression support group, then you can also join it and widen your circle of friends.

7. Get out of your comfort zone. You may find the house to be an all-too welcoming haven, or your routine tasks to be comforting. Your comfort zone, however, is also the place where your depression reigns, and you must try to escape it. You will struggle, no doubt, but with patience, you can rise out of your depression. Rising out of your comfort zone simply means that you should do things that you had never done before, such as engaging in sports, watching movies alone, or even eating in a restaurant you have never been to.

8. Clean your house every day and repeat these words to yourself, 'I am taking away all the sad things of yesterday, and I am putting in happiness for today.' You may also try variations of the statement, but make the meaning clear: you are cleaning your house free from whatever is shackling you to your depression, so that you can let happiness and goodness enter. Cleaning your house is simply a representation of your resolution to be and do better.

9. Be convinced that you can rise out of your depression. Think positively! Medicine can only go so far, and will need a willing body to be able to work. If you believe that you can get out of your depression, and if you acknowledge that it is only a temporary state, then you will survive.

10. Be patient. You can think positively all you want, but you will find that every day is a struggle. Recognize that you need to take small steps to recover, and that if you recover too quickly, you may sink back into depression again. Great rewards take long to reap, but with patience, half the battle is already won. Depression is only a phase, and with the proper attitude and know-how, you can indeed recover and have a better life.

What's a good image to symbolize this?

What's a good picture to draw about depression and suicide hotlines, but with symolism? I've drawn a couple of pictures already, but it doesn't get the feeling quite right.

rip a page in half and then color one side in completely black, or scribble over it with black biro until it's nearly black and then on the other half draw half of someone's face with a tear running down their cheek, and then stick both the pieces of paper on a background with color, like a bright red sheet of paper or something, and then if you want to symbolize the hotlines, do negatives of one of those old fashion phones and stick them on the colored background. Or you could draw an old fashion phone and the color it all in black and THEN do the scribble-y thing over that :)
I know it's not all drawing but it could be quite striking:)

How to Leverage the Potential of Foreign Employees for the Success of a Business

We live in a world of migration and the number of migrants crossing the borders increases daily. For a business, hiring foreign nationals can be a great asset, as they bring their unique skills, expertise, knowledge, ethics and culture. And even more, they can help a business in the global market; in fact, as the world becomes smaller and smaller a business will inevitably find itself dealing with foreign customers, clients or suppliers, whether here or abroad, and foreign employees can help it deal successfully with foreign cultures. Furthermore, foreign employees can be a source of personal and professional growth, and such growth will automatically bring about financial growth.

But it is very important to understand that moving or living in another country can be very demanding and has a lot of implications which need to be considered if the relocation is to be a success. Moving and living in a foreign country is not simply learning the new language and learning about all the practicalities: the new house, school, university, health system etc. It is the new culture.

And culture is not simply the external differences, it is all that is stored in the subconscious mind; it is the beliefs, habits and values that make us give a certain meaning to things or behaviours, that make us consider things or behaviours as 'normal' or acceptable, and this can differ widely from what is 'normal' or acceptable in another country, even a neighbouring country.

Sometimes we are not aware of how cross-cultural mechanisms work and we are not aware of how our own culture has moulded our subconscious and how the meanings we give to behaviours or things derive from that, until we move to another country; the way we see reality, the way we behave, the meaning we give to behaviours, words, habits, etc. can be very different in another culture and this is valid in business and in day-to-day life.

The same can be said for the foreign employees, as they might not be aware of their cultural subconscious programming.

And not being aware of how cross-cultural differences work can be cause of stress and conflicts, misunderstandings, problems with colleagues and with clients. It might lower the foreign employees' self-esteem and their self-confidence. It might cause them to feel anxious and become depressed. And this will lower their wellbeing, and so their performance and their productivity. They might take days off sick or have problems with colleagues and customers, all of which could impact the business greatly and cause a loss of money for the business.

But another important point is that although the foreign employees are indeed from another culture, they do not represent their home country, they represent themselves as individuals. There are a lot of issues to be considered in relocating foreign employees or managing international teams, and it is very important to support the foreign employees with cross-cultural training, to enable them to create success strategies for their relocation.

There are different approaches in how to work with different cultures; there are approaches that start from a point of view of trying not to offend people from another culture, but these seem to be approaches based on fear, and fear does not work.

A better approach is to help everyone learn about how cross-cultural mechanisms work and to provide support for the foreign employees in a successful relocation; and this will enable us to communicate successfully with awareness, respect and curiosity and let go of all stereotyping and assumptions knowing that, after all, we are all indeed part of the human family. This is the approach based on love, care and compassion: don't we all want to bring back heart and soul to corporations? Well, hiring and supporting foreign employees will help with that!

Learning history 101 The Great Depression

Depression has always been a problem everyone is struggling to cope with a point in their life or another. Approximately fifteen percent of Americans have experienced. Ninety percent of people commit suicide suffer from depression if it is not another mental disorder.

It is natural to speak of how "depressed" people are. However, everyone can feel sadness because of the disappointments of life is very different from the serious illness caused by a brain disorder. Deep Depression impairs the ability of function in everyday situations by affecting moods, thoughts, behaviors and physical well-being. manic depression, now more commonly known as bipolar disorder is a condition where a person may be depressed and lethargic one minute, exalted and hyperactivity the next. Prominent figures such as Virginia Woolf, Theodore Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, to name a few, have been clearly diagnoses to have such a condition.

Virginia Woolf, the writer who had the famous novels: Mrs Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, and Orlando, was said to have had manic-depression at an early age. She was led to depression in case of death in the family and abuse sex of his half-brothers, After multiple failures, it had been admitted to a nursing home to have people take care of her. He given antidepressants to make him sleep. She attempted suicide by overdosing on his medication, but was successfully revived. She recovered from depression for some time, and when she felt that the condition is feared to return, she tried to reclaim his life. She finally succeeded by drowning.

Winston Churchill, a prominent British politician and author and Nobel laureate, has also suffered from depression. Predates his life, his father and many other relatives died young and were diagnosed as manic depressive. He grew paranoid about themselves up with the illness of his father who sparked his own depression. Her depression was not as severe as that of his father, but he simply does not mean affected before Parliament. He takes refuge in paint colors.

Depression is caused by many things. It may be hereditary, where depressive tendency runs in the family, drug-induced, caused by overuse of antidepressants, or "tranquilizers", which are chemicals that reduce the function or activity of a specific part of the body, or caused by external factors such as pressure of work among others.
Overcoming depression is more than just treating its symptoms. Many health professionals encourage a combination of pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy, but studies show that the drug is not necessary if the patient receives the right kind of help. The clinical diagnosis of symptoms is the first necessary steps to determine the level of depression the patient knows. psychotherapy for depression in which patients are explained the facts of their illness and how to cope with advice. During counseling patients learn to cope with negative emotions, to identify and change how they think, improve their relationships with others, and cope with their problems constructively. The underlying causes of the crisis will also be explored. he can be sued in an individual, group, couples, or the creation of the family. This is not considered as the most effective treatment because it sometimes makes depression worse. If psychotherapy is not working, antidepressants are given to control depression. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to obtain maximum efficiency.

Depression is not something to take lightly. Some died because of uncontrollable, chronic depression. It may be just a simple case of the blues now, but if it continues for no reason at all, and it starts to disrupt the way you live, you may have clinical depression. As stated in the phrase, "for every cloud there is a glimmer of hope," should not feel depressed for every little thing that goes wrong.
