Era Newspapers, Classic Novels and Student Literary Enrichment

Era Newspapers, Classic Novels and Student Literary Enrichment

The use of era newspapers, i.e., mainly front-pages and reproductions, in social studies core curriculums is a widely accepted teaching aid that enable students’ to comprehend the actual event(s) described in history and other social studies textbooks. But a correlated use, very often ignored, occurs with the employment of era newspapers with the Classic Novels read in English, AP or American /European Literature courses in high school and college classrooms nationally. Historical newspapers can be specifically selected to matrix with the events described, era fashion, and historical personalities for all the major 20th Century novels.

Historical newspapers enhance a students’ understanding of the historical perspective of the author; who typically assumes the reader has a ‘common’ knowledge of the time period. The very select list of standard novels enhanced by reading historical newspapers include: U. Sinclair’s The Jungle, E. Wharton’s The House of Mirth, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Sun Also Rises and/or The Great Gatsby, J. Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath, J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye, J. Heller’s Catch-22, along with Erich Maria Remarque’s All Quiet on the Western Front, and Otto Frank’s Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. With day to day front-page headlines such as: 150,00 Reported Killed In The Battle Of The Aisne [Taunton Daily Gazette – WWI], Yanks Repulse Hun Raid Near Marne [Grand Forks Herald – WWI], Fanatic Battle Rages in Cassino Ruins [St. Louis Globe-Democrat – WWII Italy], Prohibition and World Court Figures as Nine States Vote [The Dallas Morning News – The Roaring Twenties], Stocks Cast Overboard in 16,000,000 Share Day [Buffalo Evening News – The Depression], Lindbergh Far Beyond Newfoundland [The World (New York City) – The Roaring Twenties],  and Roosevelt Extends Bank Holiday [The Evening Republican – The Depression] are a very select sample of thousands of possibilities.

Era reproduction newspapers provide a student with a semblance of the same news that inspired the author, helped them form a thematic perspective or cause deeper insights. Articles covering the horrors of war, the divisions of class within American society, the economic and human chaos of the Depression, and the cost of living visualized through full-page fashion, car, and grocery advertisements help a student gain a broader familiarity with the day to day life of the novels’ era. If historical newspapers, were used much like mathematical axioms, they could be used as ‘proofs’ for literary events, described horrors, odd personalities, or national opinion(s) expressed in the literary work. The use of both rural and metropolitan front-pages provide a variety of regional cultures, political party ‘opinions’, and ‘a snapshot in time’ reality a student could read about in the very next chapter. Classroom poster sets based on events, descriptions, themes, or as an introduction to each chapter would offer a sense of ‘concrete’ authenticity equal to this XYZ Generations’ Internet, cellular and ‘My Space’ reality. Co-curricula lesson planning using reproduction newspapers offer obvious academic interconnections between Journalism and history, Poetry and Current Events, or an era English/Literature novel and corresponding era history course. Era newspapers are considered as primary source documents and are about as painless a set of original source documents your students will ever be ‘forced’ to read. Your thoughts, feedback and comments are very welcome.

The Depression Newspaper <h2>The Depression Newspaper Unique Explanation</h2>
iS SPENDING EXCESSIVELY A SIGN OF DEPRESSION?

I read today in The Sun newspaper that this is a sign of depression, is there any truth in this? I've always done this ever since I started working, I got paid on a Friday and my pay was gone by Monday, I've never been able to save a penny.

I buy stupid things just for the sake of it, it causes more arguments in this house than enough, I'll buy a mobile say this week, I loss interest in it and its sold on ebay the next and I buy something else.

Spending money makes me feel good I suppose, but once I get the item I'm bored again.

This has lead me to being in a hell of alot of debt and being put on an IVA

I know I have anxiety but didn't think depression

I have never heard of it being a sign of depression, but it is a symptom of other mental illnesses, such as bipolar disorder. Since you already know that you have anxiety, you could possibly have a form of bipolar disorder where the manic episodes are paired with episodes of anxiety(instead of depression). Most people who are bipolar don't get diagnosed right away since they usually don't complain of the symptoms of mania, since they feel good at those times(too good). Therefor when they seek treatment it is usually for the symptoms of depression or anxiety.
A good psychiatrist knows how to screen for bipolar disorder, and can find the right combination of medications for treatment.

Depression Newspaper Articles Quotes:

We experience moments absolutely free from worry. These brief respites are called panic. By Cullen Hightower Find out about Depression Newspaper Articles

Are You A Scanner

"I can never stick to anything."
"I know I should focus on one thing, but which one?"
"I lose interest in things I thought would interest me forever."
"I keep going off on another tangent."
"I get bored as soon as I know how to do something."
"I can't stand to do anything twice."
"I keep changing my mind about what I want to do and end up doing nothing."
"I work at low-paying jobs because there's nothing I'm willing to commit to."
"I won't choose a career path because it might be the wrong one."
"I think everyone's put on this earth to do something; everyone but me, that is."
"I can't pay attention unless I'm doing many things at once."
"I pull away from what I'm doing because I'm afraid I'll miss something better."
"I'm too busy, but when I do find time I can't remember what I wanted to do."
"I'll never be an expert in anything. I feel like I'm always in a survey class."

If you've ever said these things to yourself, chances are good that you're a Scanner, a very special kind of thinker. Unlike those people who seem to find and be satisfied with one area of interest, you're genetically wired to be interested in many things, and that's exactly what you've been trying to do. Because your behavior is unfamiliar -- even unsettling -- to the people around you, you've been taught that you're doing something wrong and you must try to change. But what you've been told is a mistake -- you have been misdiagnosed. You're a different creature altogether.

What you've assumed is a disability to be overcome by sheer will is actually an exceptional gift. You are the owner of a remarkable, multitalented brain trying to do its work in a world that doesn't understand who you are and doesn't know why you behave as you do.

And unless you know who you are, you're going to agree with them! Not only would that be unfair and inaccurate, it could prevent you from developing your gifts and making your contribution to the world. The stakes are very high.

Identifying yourself as a Scanner means changing the way you see yourself in the world. It starts with understanding that you should stop trying to fit into the accepted norm at once and begin learning about who you really are. To help you build the productive future you were designed for, you need a set of instructions. That's what I've tried to create in this book.

What is a Scanner?

Scanners love to read and write, to fix and invent things, to design projects and businesses, to cook and sing, and to create the perfect dinner party. (You'll notice I didn't use the word "or," because Scanners don't love to do one thing or the other; they love them all.) A Scanner might be fascinated with learning how to play bridge or bocce, but once she gets good at it, she might never play it again. One Scanner I know proudly showed me a button she was wearing that said, "I Did That Already."

To Scanners the world is like a big candy store full of fascinating opportunities, and all they want is to reach out and stuff their pockets.

It sounds wonderful, doesn't it? The problem is, Scanners are starving in the candy store. They believe they're allowed to pursue only one path. But they want them all. If they force themselves to make a choice, they are forever discontented. But usually Scanners don't choose anything at all. And they don't feel good about it.

As kids, most Scanners had been having a great time! At school no one objected to their many interests, because every hour of every student's school day is devoted to a different subject. But at some point in high school or soon after, everyone was expected to make a choice, and that's when Scanners ran into trouble. While some people happily narrowed down to one subject, Scanners simply couldn't.

The conventional wisdom was overwhelming and seemed indisputable: If you're a jack-of-all-trades, you'll always be a master of none. You'll become a dilettante, a dabbler, a superficial person -- and you'll never have a decent career. Suddenly, a Scanner who all through school might have been seen as an enthusiastic learner had now become a failure.

But one thought wouldn't leave my mind: If the world had just continued to accept them as they were, Scanners wouldn't have had any problems. With the exception of learning project management techniques, the only thing Scanners needed was to reject conventional wisdom that said they were doing something wrong and claim their true identity. Almost every case of low self-esteem, shame, frustration, feelings of inadequacy, indecisiveness, and inability to get into action simply disappeared the moment they understood that they were Scanners and stopped trying to be somebody else.

It appears that Scanners are an unusual breed of human being. One reason they don't recognize themselves is that they don't often meet people like themselves.

How do you know if you're a Scanner?

Maybe it would be useful to first discuss who isn't one.

Who isn't a Scanner?

Well, specialists aren't Scanners, obviously. If you're someone who is happy being completely absorbed by one field, I've labeled you a Diver. Some clear examples of Divers are professional musicians, scientists, mathematicians, professional chess players, athletes, business owners, and financiers. These people may "relax" with a hobby, but they're rarely passionate about anything but their field. In fact, Divers often wonder how people can be interested in anything but what they're interested in. Sometimes they even make fun of themselves for it, like the racing bicyclist Tim Krabbé described in The Rider, who glances up from his gear to look at people walking and says, "Nonracers. The emptiness of those lives shocks me."

By contrast, Scanners rarely think what other people are doing is empty. They're always curious to know "what's out there" and love to poke their noses into just about anything. A Diver rarely spends a moment wondering what he might be missing when he's totally absorbed in his field. On the other hand, 99 percent of Scanners spend a lot of time scanning the horizon, thinking about their next move.

Many people look like Scanners, but aren't

People who continually move from one idea to another often have very different reasons for doing so. Some are simply trying to make up their minds, and when they find the "right" choice, they can easily give up all the other ideas they considered.

Others move between ideas for reasons that surprised me when I first heard them. Here are some examples.

I spent years frustrating myself and everyone around me with my constant jumping from one thing to another. What I learned about myself eventually is that I knew deep down what I should be doing all along, but was simply too scared to commit myself to it. The constant stream of alternative ideas was simply an advanced avoidance technique.

I think I've always avoided what I really want to do because I was afraid Id be mediocre, or fail completely, so I'd keep changing my mind before I produced anything that could be judged.

Depressed people often make the mistake of believing they're Scanners. Depression can create a fractured consciousness that doesn't allow one to pay attention to anything for long, and some depressed people believe that the cause of their depression is their inability to find something they can care about intensely. But the reverse is usually true: They can't care about anything because they're depressed. One of the main symptoms of depression is the inability to feel desire. A woman who had experience with depressed people told me:

The types of attention span problems that have to do with depression are quite different than job-interest attention spans. When you get so you can't read a book (and even newspaper articles are too complicated to remember from start to finish), you can't pay attention during a conversation, and you have no idea where your keys and wallet are when usually you know exactly where you put them, then you need to talk to somebody about therapy and medication, both of which work wonders.

And then we have ADD. Before knowing who they were, many Scanners assumed that their "problem" might be attention deficit disorder (ADD), simply because everyone assumed that being interested in lots of things was a form of distraction. In my experience, I've found that many Scanners actually do have ADD, but they are true Scanners all the same. I've also met people with diagnosed ADD who appear to be Scanners but are not. Once you understand that a bona fide Scanner has no problem with the normal ability to focus (as opposed to ADD-style hyper-focus), the confusion with ADD usually clears up.

I'm a Scanner and have been diagnosed with ADD. And I can tell you that nothing is clearer than the difference between feeling stuck because I'm having an ADD attack -- that is, my mind is in a fog and I have trouble remembering what I'm doing -- and being stuck for the typical Scanner reasons of being attracted to so many things that I can't figure out which project to reach for next.

Of course, there are many people who are quite content in their fields and have a few normal interests in addition, such as a lawyer who enjoys cooking and travel, or an advertising art director who collects antiques. But there's a noticeable difference between someone with a normal range of interests and a Scanner.

Who is a Scanner?

Intense curiosity about numerous unrelated subjects is one of the most basic characteristics of a Scanner. Scanners are endlessly inquisitive. In fact, Scanners often describe themselves as being hopelessly interested in everything (although, as you'll find out, this isn't so). A Scanner doesn't want to specialize in any of the things she loves, because that means giving up all the rest. Some even think that being an expert would be limiting and boring.

Our society frowns on this apparent self-indulgence. Of course, it's not self- indulgence at all; it's the way Scanners are designed, and there's nothing they can or should do about it. A Scanner is curious because he is genetically programmed to explore everything that interests him. If you're a Scanner, that's your nature. Ignore it and you'll always be fretful and dissatisfied.

It's a whole new way of thinking, I know. And much of the world doesn't see Scanners' behavior as admirable or even acceptable. But it wasn't always this way.

Fear is the needle that pierces us that it may carry a thread to bind us to heaven. By James Hastings Find out about 1929 Depression Newspaper

Rebound of Global Economy Leaving Recession Behind

The darken clouds of recession are passing away because the strength of the contemporary financial market can be well judged by the rebound of the global economy.

The recent downfall in the global economy is unforgettable. In many companies older employees were replaced by the new ones. It had to be done in order to cope with the prevailing financial market. It is quite sad to forget those older employees but the reality had to be faced with boldness. The same goes with the online companies as well.

Recession lasted almost for about a year and the canopy above us is completely transparent. Most of the popular newspapers and other well-known media have stated that the global economy is almost back on the track. Many top-notch companies including the micro ones have announced that they are going to hike the salary of their employees. In addition, they also stated that the hikes may not be huge chunks but it will be enough to make their employees gleeful.

Even in the online market entrepreneurs had seen the worst market condition. Many of them told that in the recent recession they witnessed what actually had happened in the Great Depression in 1929 which lasted till 1930s and 1940s for different countries. Anyways the fatal fever is no more running in the blood.

Now any enthusiast who wants to contact a CMS web development company for getting the most extra-ordinary website will certainly be able to get the affordable deal. CMS web development companies also went through the ups and downs in the recent recession and now they are taking a deep sigh of relief. Quite delightfully a web development company, entrepreneurs and customers are tying the knot of aesthetic business bondage.

It is a plea to entrepreneurs that if they are going for a new kind of website then there is no need of hard bargaining because the current rates already went through a strong correction. The rates of web development projects prevailing in the present online market are kept within the affordable range with respect to the pockets of entrepreneurs. Hence, the route ahead is free of impenetrable fog.

Is Revolution Brewing in America?

Is revolution brewing in America?

By MICHAEL WEBSTER: Syndicated Investigative Reporter. Feb 3, 2009 at 5:00 PM PST

Crowd gathering on Wall Street after the  1929 crash

The deep depression that started in America has already triggered violence in many places around the world and is being played out in Europe and elsewhere with increasing violence and other forms of social unrest are spreading around the globe. In Iceland for example the government has already fallen.

Hundreds of thousands of concerned citizens have marched in Zaragoza in protest to the failing economy and reacting to the great lose of jobs as Spanish unemployment heads towards 20 per cent. There have been riots and bloodshed in Greece, protests in Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Mexico and Bulgaria. The police have suppressed public discontent in all these countries including Russia.

The question many are asking is this discontent going to spread around the world as things get even worse?

As things deteriorate around the globe economically Americans are starting to realize what a bad place they are finding themselves in and that Americans for the first time since the great depression are losing jobs at an alarming rate, losing their homes, savings and the way of life they have grown accustom to.

Americans, the very people who the big banks, Wall Street and corporations made their massive fortunes from are now being forced by the United States Government to bail out those same companies. The price tag, that many believe will be in the trillions of dollars and are being given to those same companies in the form of American tax dollars. Those very same companies are being rewarded for failing, yet the American citizen is expected to weather the storm and do all the suffering without any help.

Many predict that there will be rioting in the streets of America too and that may be the reason the U.S. government is building detention camps all over the states and more are expected.

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.

Jerome R. Corsi a reporter for the WorldNetDaily reports that the proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany.

The bill also appears to expand the President's emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, that gave the President the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

Corsi further reported that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded a $385 million contract to Houston-based KBR, Halliburton's former engineering and construction subsidiary, ( based in Dubai) to build temporary detention centers on an "as-needed" basis in national emergency situations.

According to Adrian Michaels, a London reporter says the French are continuing to revolt. Teachers, television employees, postal workers, students and masses of other public-sector workers are united in a hugely popular strike with car workers, supermarket staff, journalists and thousands of others in the private sector protesting the depression that has hit there country like a ton of bricks.

One poll said that 75 per cent of the public supported the action, which has the backing of the large union groups and opposition socialists. It will be a big test for President Nicolas Sarkozy but, more importantly, the strike will mark the biggest protest so far in one of the world's largest economies against the grief and distress being caused by the catastrophic global downturn.

In America too it is turning into a winter of discontent Americans not having money to pay the heating bills, not able to afford gasoline for their cars, unable to pay their mortgages and no apparent bail out for them in site. American protests are expected to be widespread as more and more Americans lose their jobs and become homeless and as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer the gathering storms of discontent are darker now then any anybody can remember, Yes, it is expected to get worse than the great depression.

Parallels between the 1930s have tended to focus on the numbers — a lack of growth and waning consumer confidence is now prevalent world wide.

It is feared by many governments that history will repeat itself as in the 1930s where economic hardship spawned major demonstrations. It allowed extremists to gather support after a loss of faith in the government and politicians. Economic catastrophe bred Franco, Mussolini and Hitler.

Michaels asked " Do the protesters across Europe sense once again that their governments do not know what to do? Or is it melodramatic to worry about such a parallel?"

Politicians are being assailed for their lack of competence. Mainstream parties — the left in France and Germany, for example — are bickering and in crisis. France's mainstream unions have, in some cases, been following the actions of more radical groups such as SUD-Rail, which called a wildcat strike at a Paris rail station and stranded thousands of commuters. In Italy, traditional scapegoats such as immigrants are being expelled by populist politicians.

Michaels continues that the continent has been turned upside down as governments struggle to cope. Whatever was bad — state aid, bigger budget deficits, mass bail-outs — is now good. "Governments are making it up as they go along," says Alan Ahearne, an economist at the Bruegel think tank in Brussels. "They are doing it on the fly."

Worse is that the institutions created to keep the peace after the Second World War are being over-ridden. The European Union, formed in the 1950s mainly as a way to stop the citizens of France and Germany from killing each other, is having its rules ignored as countries take unilateral action to safeguard jobs and businesses.

Brussels has made token noises about the rules of the single market being respected again some day, but its guidelines on bail-outs merely follow actions by member states.

Another reason for discontent is that this is the euro's first recession. Euro zone countries can no longer devalue and boost exports, assuming anyone still had the money to buy goods.

And while Germany and France can boost domestic spending, Portugal and Greece do not have the money. In smaller countries, people are protesting because all they see in their future are cuts in wages, reductions in living standards, spending cuts and tax increases as their governments struggle to restore order. (total and complete corporate greed).

In April, the G20 group of developed and developing nations will gather in London and have another chance to set the right strategy. US President Barack Obama has started telling Americans that they will have to take a share of the pain, and that a fix will be a long time in the making.

One European says Americans are so spoiled and they have had it so good for so many years, they will be the hardest hit as they will struggle to cope. This is going to be a new world for them and they are going to have to learn how to adapt or parish.

Is this America's future? Does the American government sense chaos and public rebellion?

To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom. By Bertrand Russell Find out about Great Depression Newspaper

5 Tips to Reduce Depression

While war and poor economic conditions begin to affect people all over the world, more and more people suffer with depression. The more we focus on news events and the business climate, the more we are depressed. Whatever the reason you feel is the cause of your depression, the following five simple tips guarantee you reduce it significantly.

1. Do not read newspapers.

Newspapers publish negative stories most of the time. Even in peaceful periods, newspapers will find the worst in humanity and place negative stories on display in order to promote sales and subscribers. Stories focused on War, rebellion, death, destruction, doom and despair abound in the newspapers.

You will not miss any news. Friends, family, and your local air raid siren will keep you informed if your attention is needed. Only pay attention to the things you can control in your life.

Stop reading the newspaper and reduce the negative input to your brain.

2. Turn off your television.

Watching and listening about the horrible economy and the losses associated with War will add to depression. In fact, you guarantee the feeling of helplessness. Helplessness allows depression to nurture. If you really need to watch or listen to these kinds of news stories, promise yourself you will bury yourself in the documentaries that are sure to follow in the next 5 or 10 years. A way you can eliminate most of the negative input to your brain is by setting it aside for a date somewhere in the future. I guarantee in the future, you will not find it very interesting.

When visitors come to your home, make sure you turn off your television and keep it off. News television broadcasters are fighting for your guests' attention as they promote despair, war, death, and destruction with many headline news interruptions. Those little banners that run across the bottom of the screen achieve your attention and they take hold of your consciousness. Television will diminish your positive spirit.

3. Say good things about others

My Mother always says, "if you can't say anything nice about others, don't say anything at all." However, when you find yourself in a conversation and a relative says, "Remember Uncle Phil?" " He was an alcoholic" Respond with " yes, Uncle Phil was an alcoholic and he was the most charitable person, I have ever met."

Connect your friend's negative statement about Phil with a positive one. Set yourself up to find the positive in anyone's statement and you will keep negative thoughts and depression from overtaking your life.

Og Mandino, a great motivator once said, "treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight." "Your life will never be the same again."

4. Get physical exercise

Adults forget about exercise when suffering from depression. Make sure you are exercising daily and sending more oxygen to your brain cells. The result of exercise will improve your health as well as your attitude.

5. Breathe deep and relax.

Practice the following breathing exercise to relax your body and mind.

Breathe deeply and relax. For 2 or 3 minutes each hour, take a short mental vacation.

You can engage in this exercise while you are standing in the checkout line at the supermarket or when listening to others while talking on a telephone. You can complete the exercise at home or at work.

Take three deep breathes and relax. As you inhale, concentrate on calm and peaceful thoughts. You may think about relaxing by a mountain, by the ocean or comfortably in your favorite room at home.

As you exhale, concentrate on pushing any tension out of your lungs.

Focus on positive images in your life. Focus on laughter, love, excitement, and hope.

Keep breathing in and out in this pattern until you feel better. If you practice the exercise often, you will notice wonderful changes in your outlook and in other aspects of your life.

Reduce your depression now! Enjoy your family, your friends, and your life.

Depression Newspaper Quotes:

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. By Marie Curie Find out about Depression Newspaper

How You Can Get Rid Of Depression For Good

As warfare and mediocre financial conditions start to impact people all across the globe, more and more folks suffer with depressive disorders. The more we concentrate on news events and the business climate, the more we get depressed. Whatever the cause you feel is the reason of your depression, the following five no frills pieces of advice guarantee you shrink it noticeably.

1. Do not read newsprints.

Papers publish negative reports most of the time. Even in peaceful time periods, papers will find the worst in mankind and lay negative reports on display so as to encourage sales and readers. News reports centered on warfare, insurrection, death, devastation, doom and desperation teem in the newspapers.

You will not miss any news. Acquaintances, kinfolks, and your local air raid siren will keep you informed if your care is needed. Only pay care to the matters you are able to control in your life.

Quit reading the newspaper and bring down the negative input to your mind.

2. Switch off your television set.

Watching and hearing about the atrocious state of the economy and the losses connected with warfare will compound depression. As a matter of fact, you warrant the feeling of weakness. Helplessness grants depression to thrive. If you really have to watch or hear to these sorts of news stories, foretell yourself you will bury yourself in the documentaries that are sure to follow in the next 5 or 10 years. A way you can do away with the majority of the negative input to your brain is by setting it aside for a date someplace in the time to come. I assure you that in the future, you will not find it very worth your time.

When people arrive at your house, be sure you switch off your television receiver and keep it off. News television broadcasters are fighting for your guests' attention as they advertize desperation, warfare, destruction, and devastation with several headline news intermissions. Those little streamers that run across the bottom of the screen reach your attention and they grab hold of your conscious mind. TV will lessen your positive spirit.

3. Say nice things about other people

My Mother always states, "if you can not say anything good about other people, do not say anything at all." Nevertheless, when you find yourself in a conversation and a kin says, "Remember Uncle Phil?" " He was a boozer" answer with " yes, Uncle Phil was an alcoholic and he was the most large-hearted person, I have ever came across."

Tie in your acquaintance's negative assertion about Phil with a positive one. Set yourself up to find the positive in anyone's assertion and you will keep damaging thoughts and depression from sweeping over your life.

Og Mandino, a great motivator once stated, "treat everybody you encounter as if they were going to be dead by midnight." "Your life will never be the same again."

4.  Workout

Grownups forget about physical exercise when suffering from depression. Make certain you are exercising every day and sending additional oxygen to your brain cells. The result of physical exercise will better your wellness in addition to your attitude.

5. Breathe deep and loosen up.

Do the following breathing drill to unstrain your body and mind.

Breathe deeply and loosen up. For 2 or 3 minutes every hour, take a short mental holiday.

You can participate in this exercise when you are standing in the checkout line at the store or whilst listening to other people while speaking on a telephone. You can do the exercise at home or at work.

Take three deep breathes and unwind. While you breathe in, focus on calm and nice thoughts. You could think about unwinding by a mountain, by the sea or comfortably in your preferred room at home.

As you breathe out, focus on pushing any stress out of your lungs.
Concentrate on positive images in your life. Concentrate on laughter, passion, exhilaration, and promise.

Continue inhaling and out in this fashion till you feel better. If you practice the drill frequently, you will notice fantastic changes in your mentality and in other facets of your life.

Decrease your depression right away! Enjoy your kinsfolks, your friends, and your life.

Depression Newspaper <h2>Depression Newspaper Incredible News</h2>
in the early 1900's why did they cover the walls with newspapers?

In a lots of old depression era pictures I see newspaper covering the walls. Why was this done? Was this some form of insulation? What technique was used to put it up?

It was used to keep wind, dust and cold from coming through the cracks in the wall(s). It was glued there with either flour and water mixture, which the bugs did like. Or it was boiled starch, which becomes hard like stone, when it dries. In many African countries they still use newspapers (and cardboard boxes) for the same reasons.
Peace.

Depression Newsletter Email Quotes:

Anxiety is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained. By Arthur Somers Roche Find out about Depression Newsletter Email

Top Tips to Build Your List

If you've ever gone to a sales seminar, I'm sure you've heard that a person needs to look/hear/see an offer (on average) at least 7 times before they make their buying decision.

For an internet marketer, that's not the best of news.  Think how hard you work to generate traffic to your site.  Traffic is quite difficult to get, and to know that once they hit your site they still might need to visit a few others before buying can be a depressing thought.

What can you do to gain some sort of benefit from driving that visitor to your site?

The smart thing to do is to have a space on your site so that the visitor can opt-in to your email list.  Is this something that people like to do?  No.  How do you entice them to do so?  You need to offer them something for free to entice them to sign up.  It could be a weekly newsletter you put out about the subject, a special report that you've written, or an instructional video message you've recorded.  Be creative, but it needs to be something that draws them in and makes them want to give you their email address in exchange for your "gift."

The beauty of adding them to your list is you may not have sold them the original item you were advertising on your site, but you now have the opportunity to sell them countless other offers that are related to your original site.  Pretty cool, huh?

One thing you don't want to do with people on your list is to constantly bombard tehm with offers.  It shouldn't be a running sales pitch, because if it is, they most likely will unsubscribe from your list or just set up your email address to go directly into the Spam filter.

Offer them all sorts of free advice and information related to the original niche they found you.  Teach them through consistant contact that each of your emails won't be an offer to buy something.  Once they get accustomed to opening your emails and realizing that you are sending out valuable information and advice, they will start to trust what you have to say.

Eventually that trust will translate into sales.  Once you have their trust, they will take your recommendation to try out the various affiliate offers that you are sending to them. This is what people mean by the money is in the list.  If you're not doing this, you are leaving a lot of money on the table.  The goal of internet marketing is to try and monetize every single visitor to your site.  Opt-in lists help you reach that goal.

What's easier, building a website and struggling to generate traffic towards it, or simply sending out an email to your pre-qualified list of people who have already bought from you before and directing them towards another offer that might suit their needs?  It's almost like your own personal ATM (bank) machine.

Sounds easy, but how do you do it?  That is the struggle for many online marketers.

I have run into a fantastic video series called "Big List Bucks" that will show you exactly how to do this.  It's a 7 Video series with easy to follow step by step instructions showing you how to build your list.  It walks you through the entire process, from picking the best auto-responder company, setting up your sequence of emails, composing those emails with titles that will entice people to open them, and helping you write emails that will encourage your list to buy.

If you're looking to increase your products by building your list, Big List Bucks will walk you through the entire process.

Making Money With Only Affiliate Marketing

Making money with only affiliate marketing

Previously, when affiliate marketing deals were given to you, they were often too good to be true.

This is not the case anymore. You've probably heard the same things about affiliate marketing time and time again. The increasing number of affiliate programs, online or offline are all telling you they're better than everyone else.

Besides that, they will give you an initial impression that you do not have to do more than just place a banner or two to start earning more profits than you could ever imagine. This is not always the case. This may apply to some who have already built up a successful site and a name for themselves. But for most, affiliate marketing needs a little work and time.

Email can be an effective affiliate marketing instrument. If done correctly, that is.

Promotion by means of email is very rampant. If you want to use email for your affiliate marketing, you have to be sure that you stand by what you are offering and that you make yourself available anytime for any questions or queries.

It is said that adding an article to your email advertising works really well. Putting up a summary about your product or service that can instantly attract the attention of your readers.

This summary should contain a link to an article located on your site. By this, you get to promote your business. You also give your visitors a chance to check out other parts of your site.

The advantage to the advertiser is that they get highly targeted visitors to their site. These people may even become future buyers if ever they find the offers interesting and helpful.

Try to differ from the crowd. Be unique.

The many existing affiliate marketing programs made people blind to the sales and marketing pitch being presented. You cannot blame them. Imagine yourself being bombarded by these things everyday and you will feel the same.

Squeeze out your creative juices and give them something original enough to stop them from leaving and make them stay to read on. You can try and find a hosting company that can do the job well. Having a great one will make you more than comfortable to offer anything from small to big time deals.

Patience is the key in affiliate marketing.

Contact a certain company to negotiate an arrangement if you feel that you are confident enough to generate an amazing number of sales for them. If they seem not interested in what you are offering, do not give up yet. Be patient.

Take into account that these companies are bring approached everyday by affiliates only gives out promises. Most of them cannot deliver what they are saying; thus making company owners wary of which ones to choose.

You can always go the extra mile and implement other techniques in order to get more sales. Once you have done this, approach them again for your services. Chances are, they will be more than willing to get into your affiliate program this time around.

Keep in mind that most types of advertising do not give out results instantly. Putting up a banner for your affiliate marketing campaign and getting it off after a few days should not be done. You may think that they are not being effective or that they are not working. It takes time.

Some of the affiliate marketing strategies that have worked successfully for you may not work the same way on other campaigns. It is worth the try but do not expect for things to turn out exactly.

If you are having continuous problems with your affiliate program, get in touch with the company. If they are committed to their business, they will help you in every way possible on which ones work best. They probably have thousands of affiliates willing to teach you what works best.

Affiliate marketing can be exciting and depressing at the same time. The ups and downs you will encounter is never boring; it will always be a challenge

It all boils down to affiliate marketing being the survival of the best of the best, the smartest and the most patient. But those that win will be handsomely rewarded.

The SEC –Patrolling the Domestic Penny Stock Shores

During the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, a little confidence can go a long way. It’s even better when the vote of confidence does what it’s actually suppose to do - - instill confidence.

The Obama administration unveiled a sweeping regulatory overhaul aimed at restoring confidence in the U.S. financial system… and preventing a repeat of the worst crisis to hit Wall Street in seven decades.

The plan gives new, far reaching powers, to the Federal Reserve to oversee the entire financial system. It will also create a new consumer protection agency to guard against the types of abuse that played a big role in the current crisis.

speaking of abuse and a vote of confidence, the Securities and Exchange Commission set tongues wagging when it reached a settlement with Bernard Madoff that keeps him from ever working again in the securities industry. Kevin Bacon thanks you.

Back to the regulatory overhaul.

Although Obama’s regulatory strategy speaks primarily to the domestic audience, the reaction of the global economic community is also crucial. After all, a move to shore up financial weaknesses could give China, America's biggest foreign creditor, greater confidence.

"Although Obama's new rules sent out a positive signal, it's impossible to rebuild the credibility of the U.S. financial system to 100%," said Mei Xinyu, a researcher at China's Ministry of Commerce.

That said, I’m not sure any financial system can ever be viewed with a 100% reliability factor, whether it belongs to U.S.A, or dare I suggest, China.

While not perfect, the proposed financial overhaul should lead to more enforcement cases brought against stock brokers and others who run amok of the sweeping rules. The increase in powers gives the SEC more authority to regulate financial products. More significantly, it would give the agency more of an ability to investigate possible wrongdoings.

A more far reaching SEC safety net is seen as an encouraging sign. Regulators have, justifiably, been under pressure to increase efforts to fight corporate wrongdoing. The SEC has been facing heat from investors and lawmakers for failing to follow up on warnings over the years that money manager Bernard Madoff was running a massive swindle.

Under the new guidelines, the SEC can bring civil lawsuits against people for violating securities laws, including cases involving insider trading or market manipulation. If violations of securities laws are deemed willful, prosecutors can also seek criminal charges.

One area where the SEC is set to get new power under the proposed overhaul would be in requiring that broker-dealers have a duty to their clients -- just like investment advisers do.

This places a higher standard on brokers' conduct that requires they always act in the customer's best interests when recommending products. Brokers and analysts are no longer just culpable for what they do…but they are also responsible for what they do not do. Sins of omission are no longer a valid excuse.

Under the rule change, brokers could be charged with securities fraud if they omit information deemed critical for investors, said Steven Feldman, a partner in the white-collar defense practice at the law firm Herrick in New York.

"That is a perfect example of raising the bar of behavior for a particular industry," he said. "If people continue to play by the old rules, they will be subject to civil and criminal proceedings."

While the SEC may have bigger fish to fry than those brokers, advisors, and newsletters that promote penny stocks, I’m not convinced that there is an avenue that impacts the average American more - and is in need of monitoring.

Thanks to the current economic situation, there are more companies than ever before trading under $5.00. At the same time, that also means there are a lot more people buying and selling penny stocks. Dare I say, even a large number of investors who thought they’d never delve into penny stocks.

There are also a number of free penny stock newsletters out there taking advantage of the situation, pumping and dumping terrible penny stocks; promising the world while selling subscribers their own worthless shares.

If it’s possible for the SEC to clamp down on individual investors who pump penny stocks on message boards, surely it’s possible for the SEC to clamp down on those industry “experts” who tout garbage penny stocks and hide behind small print disclosures.

Increasing the SEC’s scope and the world it regulates will certainly create a greater sense of overall market confidence. That said, patrolling the domestic penny stock shores could create an even greater sense of security for the largest segment of the American population.

One Investors Junk Could Be A Penny Stock Investors Treasure

I was sitting with an acquaintance this past week at the dinner table. His vocabulary is chock full of clichés. It’s not that he thinks he made them up. I’m sure he knows that he’s uttering sayings people have been privy to for hundreds of years. I imagine he thinks inserting them into conversations will illuminate an idea or simplify it for us.

As we were sitting down he looked at a recent garage sale find and wisely chirped, “One mans junk is another mans treasure.”

That said, not all supposed "junk" should be discarded. A number of analysts have been saying that the current stock market rally is dominated by so-called “junk stocks”. One writer noted that the biggest winners since mid-July have been the companies with the most beaten-down shares and the ones whose business outlooks are seen as the riskiest within the Standard & Poor's 500 Index.

The biggest gainers have been dominated by 81 S&P companies with unspectacular credit ratings of "BB" or lower, also categorized as high-yield "junk." The stock prices of these junk-rated companies have jumped on average by between 21% and 29.5% between July 10 and August 4. By comparison, investment-grade companies rated "BBB" or above that have seen their shares rise between 9.50% and 19.25%.

While the current rally has a similar feel to the moves seen during the massive March rebound, some investors still argue that the rally is not sustainable without the participation of “higher-quality” companies.

But for those who have been investing in penny stocks for any period of time, it is not uncommon in a recovery for small cap stocks to typically lead the way when the markets bounce back.

Said one analyst, "There are those who will say this is a low-quality rally, but I have to say that I don't know what people's expectations are -- a 50% rally in five months is anything but lousy."

In a recession and a falling stock market, companies with lower credit ratings and more leverage get punished the most. It follows then, that when things improve, those stocks have the most room to run. Conversely, the strongest companies with higher credit ratings tend to weather bad times better so when the economy improves, their stocks usually don't skyrocket.

As for the current “junk stock” rally, another analyst said, "It seems to me that if investors are willing to put more money into companies with shaky finances, that's a good sign -- not a bad one."

"Investors are probably getting out of these bastions of safety, like the Wal-Marts of the world, and moving into things with more leverage, more risk," he added. "Investors are now believing that those companies will give you more bang for the buck as we see the economy improve."

History is of course on our side. After the 1973-74 recession, small stocks beat larger ones for the following 10 years. Going back further, to 1932, the year before the Great Depression ended, small cap stocks beat the market for 11 of the following 13 years.

More recently, the Russell 2000 Index (the most common benchmark of publicly traded small cap companies) has gained 40.2% since the market bottomed on March 9. In that span, the blue-chip-weighted S&P 500 has climbed 24.2%.

While a 24% gain isn’t anything to sneeze at, there are a lot of penny stock investors sitting on larger gains.

panic at the thought of doing a thing is a challenge to do it. By Henry S. Haskins Find out about Depression Newsletter

Boredom and Depression: Top 6 Interventions

Boredom is that frustrated sense of having nothing interesting to do. It is the companion to loneliness and depression for when we are bored we are disconnected from a positive connection with our self. We no longer have a felt sense of our self as a productive, engaged, energized individual interested in our activities. When boredom continues unabated we can suffer classic symptoms of depression that include frustration, low energy, decreased motivation, emptiness, negative self-image, and long hours sleeping.

Here are seven steps to get your energy revved up and to recapture a lively sense of yourself.

1. Go Dancing--you do not have to know how. Depression feeds on a lack of movement. It has less chance to take hold when we dance. All it takes is a curiosity and a willingness to try something different. Dance activities abound. Click on your local internet and check out the many choices, most of which offer free lessons and partners with whom to practice who are also there to learn and are grateful for a partner who has the same adventurous spirit.

2. Join A Singles' Social Club--depression and boredom are isolating experiences. Social interaction is an effective antidote Go on the internet and bring up your city. Search for singles events and a whole host of choices will come up from opportunities to meet and greet singles over dinner, bicycling, backpacking, white water rafting, and parachute gliding, to name a few.

3. Start Your Own Club--if you cannot find any social clubs that interest you create your own. All it takes is an idea. Advertise in the "free activities" column of your local newspaper and hear your phone or email jump with interested folks.

4. Take A courseEngage your mind and boredom releases. Local community colleges offer a large variety of courses for those interested in a particular subject rather than studying for a degree. Other venues offering free or low cost courses include neighborhood recreational councils, business retirement clubs, art supply stores, and workshops by experts who advertise in local newsletters.

5. Become A Docent-- gaining and imparting knowledge to others powerfully dispels boredom and will increase your sense of competence, further fortifying you against tendrils of depression. Museums often look for volunteers to take training in order to lead groups on informative tours of exhibits. You can learn about art history, meet like-minded folks, and have opportunities to develop friends.

6. Volunteer Your Servicegiving back to your community gives the reward of feeling kind and generous and doing meaningful work. These feelings impede the buildup of depression. Many organizations would be deeply grateful for your help. You could volunteer at a soup kitchen, your local historic society or railroad museum, or as a baby minder in your local children's hospital. Also, look around in your town for tourist venues. Choose one that interests you and then call to offer your services.

In any of these ways you can learn and grow doing what you enjoy. And who knows, those of you single might find your soul mate in the process. You certainly will have many opportunities to make new friends with similar interests and who will have more ideas for interesting and fun things to do. And at the very least you are up and moving and exercising your mind, body, and spirit. And when that happens folks, you have no room for boredom and depression.

Of course, if you are struggling daily just to get out of bed or regularly have a marked diminished interest in things you might be suffering from a more severe form of depression. In that case an experienced therapist who specializes in depression psychotherapy can help. Depression is treatable and you do not have to suffer from it.

Free Depression Newsletter Quotes:

Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal. By Albert Camus Find out about Free Depression Newsletter

Recession Proof Attitude

Let's do a quick check - how's your attitude?  Are you depressed, angry, upset, annoyed, etc?  Do you watch the news, read the paper, see articles on the internet, listen to your friends and neighbors complain?

It's pretty easy to let all the negativity get to you, isn't it?  We are all inundated with negativity nonstop.

Let me get right to the point - I'm sick of hearing about it!  Consider this - more millionaires have been "made" during recessions and depressions than during "good" economic times.

So what is about these people that help them to be so successful?

Here's what I've learned - they can't stop being inundated with all the negativity, but they can choose to either ignore it, blow it off, etc.  These people decide that they aren't interested in letting others decide how they are going to feel.  They have a plan and a direction, they stay focused on it, and plow ahead.

These people understood that their emotions are there to assist them, not control them.  When we act out of anger, fear, etc. we usually end up with less than desirable results.  Our emotions are there to assist us in understanding what is going on - but not base our decisions solely on emotion.  That's why we have a rational mind.

These people listen.  Listening in many different ways.  They listen to their emotions, they pay attention to what's going on around them, they see the trends that are coming.  In other words, they keep their eyes open to opportunities and dangers.

Here's my final thought - get out there and succeed!  You can do it!

The Treatment of Dark Circles Under the Eyes With the Arcus Marginalis Release

http://drseckel.com/surgical-procedures/result-oriented-removal-of-dark-circles-under-the-eyes/

Effective treatment for removal of dark circles under the eyes must be directed at the underlying cause of the dark circles. Millions of people complain of dark circles under the eyes but the underlying cause of the dark circles varies greatly. Treatments for dark circles that do not correct the underlying cause of the dark circle do not work. There is an incredible array of treatments for dark circles including cucumber slices, tea bags, vanishing creams, bleaching creams, lasers, surgery, more sleep, avoid TV and computer, drink 2 liters of water a day etc, yet few of these regimens seem to be directed at the underlying cause of the dark circles under the eyes.

To better understand the treatment of dark circles under the eyes I will discuss the various types of dark circles under the eyes that I encounter in my plastic surgery practice and my understanding of the cause of the dark circles, and what I feel is the most effective treatment to remove the dark circles under the eyes.

Understand that the eyelid skin appears darker than the surrounding facial skin in all people-this is the normal condition and is caused by shadows created by the overhanging brow and the fact that the eyelid skin is much thinner than the surrounding facial skin. Below I am talking about exaggerated dark circles under the eyes that cause people to be unhappy with their appearance.

Causes of Dark Circles under the Eyes

Thin Eyelid Skin

The eyelid skin is the thinnest in the body and many people with dark circles under the eyes have extremely thin skin on their eyelids and around the eyes. This thin skin is an inherited trait. The dark circles under the eyes are caused by the fact that the purple color of the underlying eyelid muscle shows through the thin skin and creates a bluish or purple color. The color is darkest near the nose and on the lower eyelid near the nose.

Treatment of dark circles under the eyes caused by thin skin is very difficult because it is very difficult to make your inherited skin thicker. Cover up make up like Jayne Iredale Eye Cover, Dermablend, and Covermark are very helpful and my first recommendation. Frequent microdermabrasion and Retin A cream over a long period of time will build new collagen in the dermis will thicken the skin and provide some improvement.

There are new lasers on the horizon which are very effective at stimulating new growth of collagen in the dermis and these new technologies may prove very beneficial. Be sure to sign up for my free newsletter to be informed when these new technologies are available.

The Arcus Deformity discussed below creates a very severe dark circle in people with thin eyelid skin and correction of the Arcus deformity with Arcus release and fat grafting can be very helpful treatment for dark circles under the eye in these individuals.

Prominent Eyelid Blood vessels and Veins

Everyone has veins and blood vessels called capillaries in their eyelid skin. In many people however the veins are very prominent and the blood vessels add to the dark color of the eyelid.

To diagnose this cause of dark circles look in a mirror with bright light on your face and gently pull the skin of the lower eyelid tight. You will see many tiny branching red and blue lines which represent blood vessels.

You need blood vessels and veins to keep your eyelid healthy and alive. However when there is an abundance of smaller vessels which create a bluish or purplish hue to the lower eyelid some new IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or laser therapies can be used to treat dark circles under the eyes in people with an excess of small capillaries and blood vessels. The very large veins cannot be treated.

Laser blood vessel treatment is a serious and potentially dangerous treatment for dark circles under the eyes and must be performed by a physician who is experienced in the use of lasers and IPL. Most importantly the eye must be protected by placing a shield over the eye during treatment so that the laser or IPL light cannot hit the eye. The laser and IPL light can damage the retina and destroy vision if the beams hit the unprotected eye.

Pigmentation of the Eyelids

Hyper pigmentation, too much pigment in the skin of the eyelid is a very common cause of dark circles under the eyes. Treatment of dark circles under the eyes caused by hyper pigmentation is very effective, but the pigment frequently returns after sun exposure.

Hyper pigmentation of the lower eyelids occurs because of sun exposure and prevention with sun block, sun glasses, and a hat are the most important first treatment for this type of dark circles under the eyes.

The treatment of hyper pigmentation begins with bleaching creams such as a combination of Retin A and 4% Hydroquinone, Obagi Blender 5, Epiquin or other prescription bleaching cream combined with microdermabrasion.

After the above treatments have lessened the pigmentation causing the dark circles under the eyes, if necessary I proceed to IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments. These treatments do effectively remove pigment causing the dark circle but again experience and eye protection are very necessary to prevent eye injury.

Hollow Eyes

Many people have a deep hollow beneath the lower eyelid which creates a dark shadow beneath the eyelid which people call dark circles under the eyes.

This deep hollow beneath the lower eyelid is caused by an inherited deficiency of fat and or bone and treatment of this type of dark circle under the eye requires surgery.

The hollow eye occurs more commonly in people from Central Asia and the Middle East but it certainly occurs in all races and from people in all regions of the world.

To treat dark circles under the eyes in people who have hollow eyes I do a laser procedure called an Arcus Marginalis release and fat grafting. The Arcus Marginalis is a structure which tethers the lower eyelid to the bone and creates a dark circle when the eyelid skin above the dark circle falls over the dark circle creating a shadow. Releasing the Arcus Marginalis releases the eyelid skin and eliminates the crease or dark circle.

I then transplant fat to fill the hollow in the bone and plump the dark circle and correct the hollow eye appearance.

Usually, to treat the dark circle under the eyes caused by the hollow eye I have to take fat from around the belly button on the abdomen to have enough fat to adequately fill the hollow eye deformity. The incision to remove the fat is well hidden down inside the belly button and is usually not visible.

Treatment of dark circles under the eyes caused by the hollow eye usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour, can be done with you asleep or awake, and recovery is usually 10 days. Patients do not complain of pain afterwards. The main recovery is waiting for bruising to go away and blurred vision from eye ointment that I have you use for the first week or two. Most importantly after this treatment you need to be calm, rest and not exert yourself. Working out or heavy lifting can raise your blood pressure and cause bleeding. Although you will be up and around the first few days with sunglasses to cover your bruising, I do not want you to exercise or lift heavy objects for at least 2 weeks.

The Arcus Deformity-the True dark Circle under the Eye

The most common cause of dark circles under the eyes in patients who seek treatment of dark circles under the eyes in my plastic surgery practice is the Arcus Deformity.

The Arcus Deformity is a dark crescent shaped circle or depression which occurs beneath the lower eyelid starting beside the nose in the corner of the eye and running out toward the side of the face and curving upward towards the outside corner of the eye.

The Arcus Deformity is caused by the fact that a small structure beneath the lower eyelid called the Arcus Marginalis is attached to the bone of the eye socket and also attached to the lower eyelid from underneath. This attachment tethers or holds the eyelid close to the bone of the eye socket while the rest of the lower eyelid is loose and free to move. The normal fat which is beneath the eyeball pushes out against the lower eyelid which creates a visible bulge on the lower eyelid. You can see this by closing one eye and gently pressing on the closed eye. With your other eye you will see the bulging of the fat against the closed lower eyelid on the other side.

The eyelid skin that is tethered by the Arcus Marginalis cannot move or bulge, and as the fat bulges the lower eyelid above the Arcus Marginalis it creates a shadow or dark circle beneath the eyelid where the Arcus Marginalis is attached to the lower eyelid skin. This is the true dark circle under the eyes.

As we age and our eyelid skin becomes loose or lax, the eyelid skin also falls or sags over the depression caused by the Arcus deformity and the dark circle gets worse. With aging and excess protrusion of fat against the lower eyelid the Arcus deformity can become quite pronounced.

older-eyelids.jpg

The Arcus Deformity is the true dark circle under the eye and I use the term Arcus Deformity to differentiate it from the Tear Trough Deformity which is different. The Tear Trough Deformity starts near the corner of the eye in the same location as the Arcus Deformity but the Tear Trough Deformity runs down into the cheek rather than up toward the outside corner of the eye.

The Tear Trough Deformity is a sign of advanced facial aging and is caused by the sagging or descent of the cheek into the middle of the face which occurs with facial aging in your 50’s and 60’s. Tears run down the cheek and out the side of the face through the Tear Trough instead of straight down the cheek as they do in a child.

By contrast the Arcus Deformity occurs in much younger patients including children. Most people seeking treatment for dark circles under the eyes in my plastic surgery practice are in their 20’s and 30’s. Doctors often misdiagnose the Arcus Deformity as the Tear Trough Deformity which is a major problem if a Tear Trough Implant is used to treat the dark circle. The Tear Trough Implant is designed to plump or correct the depression in the cheek out toward the side of the face, and in my experience the Tear Trough Implant cannot adequately correct the dark circle under the eye where it is deepest, near the corner of the lower eyelid near the nose.

The treatment for dark circles under the eyes caused by the Arcus Deformity must include release of the Arcus Marginalis and fat repositioning or fat grafting to plump the area of the dark circle.

The traditional plastic surgery treatment for eyelid rejuvenation called the blepharoplasty, during which fat is removed, can actually make dark circles under the eyes worse and create a hollowed eye appearance.

Treatment of dark circles under the eyes that are caused by the Arcus deformity requires a modern blepharoplasty approach which includes release of the Arcus Marginalis and fat repositioning or fat grafting.

I use a very specific treatment for dark circles under the eyes called the transconjunctival blepharoplasty with Arcus release and fat grafting. This treatment is done through a tiny incision on the inside of the eyelid called a transconjunctival incision because it goes through the conjunctiva, the pink tissue on the inside of the lower eyelid. I also use the laser to make this incision.

The benefits of the laser transconjunctival incision are:

1. No visible scar or incision on the outside of the eyelid
2. No change in the shape of the lower eyelid-the traditional scalpel blepharoplasty through an external incision usually weakens the lower eyelid and causes a sad eyed look
3. Less bleeding during surgery
4. Less bruising after surgery
5. Quicker recovery

My results following treatment of dark circles under the eyes with the laser transconjunctival blepharoplasty with Arcus Marginalis release and fat grafting have been very successful. Most patients have recovered within a week and many who do not bruise are comfortable being seen with make up after 5 days.

Summary- Treatment of Dark Circles under the Eyes

To summarize, effective treatment of dark circles under the eyes requires that you correct the problem that is causing the dark circle under the eye. To accomplish this you must understand what type of dark circle under the eye you have and what is causing it.
Treatment of dark circles under the eyes is possible; the key is understanding the underlying cause of your dark circles. With proper diagnosis and treatment of dark circles under the eyes caused by the Arcus deformity beautiful results can be achieved with the transconjunctival Arcus release and fat grafting.

Anxiety symptoms For Dummy

Have you ever felt like you're walking down a hallway and the walls start closing in on you? You can see the end or the light so you start running full speed trying to reach your destination. Unfortunately you can't run fast enough and your space is getting smaller and smaller. Well, this is how anxiety makes you feel. You worry you're not going to have enough and no matter how hard you try there is no chance.

This affects millions of individuals everyday. It's important to understand that this comes from a combination of the several feelings. Being worried all the time, feeling there is disaster around the corner, and overwhelming fear are all usually present. Please understand that this plagues individuals of all ages. You could be thinking about family, work, health, money, or several other daily struggles that cause stress. Any one of them can cause an attack.

Anxiety symptoms include intense headaches, sweating, irritability, muscle tension, nausea, and tiredness. People ridden with anxiety feel on edge a lot of the time.

Often times, people with panic disorder have troubled relationships with friends and family due to always feeling they have to be on guard against whatever bad may come to them. Other anxiety symptoms include tiredness, trembling, difficulty focusing on a task at hand, and difficulty falling and staying asleep. Many people with anxiety also feel shortness of breath and often gasp for air.

Another good example of an anxiety disorder is to imagine you are drowning and you are sinking to the bottom. You can see the top and move your arms, but you are not getting there fast enough. When you finally reach the surface, you gasp for air and draw the attention of many around you. This happens to many people with anxiety in the middle of the mall, in the classroom, or in a social setting.

The cause of an anxiety disorder is attributed to many factors one example is genetics. Genetics is the passing of traits from parents to offspring. Genetics plays a large role in many disorders; anxiety disorders are at the top of that list.

Then of course you can't forget about the other factors like the environment, abuse, death, and other basic changes in life. They can all produce change, which can be difficult to handle.

Anxiety symptoms can destroy a person's life if it is not handled properly. The anxiety symptoms vary in degree from children to adults. Maybe a simple solution would be to talk it out with a friend or family member, meditate, or to just simply take a walk.

It is possible that you or the individual you know with anxiety disorder ends up developing a different disorder. Whether it's depression, panic disorder, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, they should all be recognized. You have to handle panic attacks symptoms once way or another. If talking with someone else doesn't work, or you don't want to deal with others, we recommend a good self-help book. Doctors around the world have written several good books about dealing with anxiety disorder.

However, we do recommend starting with baby steps. Anxiety symptoms can definitely be overwhelming, especially for children. If you can address the situation early, you will have more options to help control the situation. Understand that panic disorder is a reaction to stress, but if it's disabling a person it needs to be handled. We deserve the chance to enjoy life, especially away from all the anxiety symptoms out there.

Can little kids get depression?

What IS depression exactly?
My younger sister has been...really negative lately...
She keeps messing things up, dresses messy-ish, doesn't do her hair neat-ish, and keeps saying things like," I'm a stupid baka (idiot)" or "I'm a babo (dummy)"
I asked her why she's acting different lately but she doesn't answer and just stares stupidly at me.
Is this depression or something?
Can 8 year olds get depression?

Yes, children can get depression. It might help her to talk to a therapist who specializes in children's issues.

It might help her work through negative feelings now, so that she won't have to carry them into adulthood with her.
