Is the lethal nature of some antidepressant drugs enough to cure depression itself?

So they diagnose fewer people now to keep them off the drugs because they might make them commit suicide, why would they eliminate the term when they can't treat it? What does that say about the pharmaceutical industry in America?
I go to a weekly support group for people with depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, etc. I have met many people who swear that antidepressants dramatically improved their lives. Others reported moderate, little, or no success with antidepressants.
This difference in the efficacy of medication is true of many medications, not just antidepressants. To put it simply, some people respond extremely well to antidepressants, while some do not.
There has been a tiny percentage of people, mostly teenagers, who committed suicide while taking antidepressants. Would they have committed suicide if thay were NOT taking antidepressants? It's impossible to tell.
The FDA is playing it safe. The FDA now makes it mandatory that ALL antidepressants come with a warning that patients may commit suicide.
For the last few years, I have been taking antidepressants because I have tried dozens of alternative medicine treatments for depression. None of them worked. I have tried acupuncture, Chinese and western herbs, nutritional supplements, dozens of different diets, psychotherapy, biofeedback, hypnosis, homeopathy, etc. None of them worked for depression.
I wish I did not have to take medication, but when everything in alternative medicine failed, I had to turn to psychiatric meds. I exercise nearly 7 days a week. That gives me some relief, but it only lasts a few hours.
Fifty years from now, pharmaceutical companies will probably have much more effective antidepressants. Right now, we have to treat depression with what we have now, whether is is alternative medicine or traditional (allopathic) medicine.
