I recently had surgery and was prescribed two different pain killers.?

As long as I take the medication as prescribed, is it safe to take percocet and morphine together at the same time? This is how it was prescribed to me, but it definately caught my attention to the risk factors. Does the doctor know what is best and do I need to not worry about this? I am also taking lorazepam for anxiety. With these three drugs, they all have independant risks of CNS and respiratory depression. what are the risks of taking the three together?

Yes, they are all CNS depressants and as such, the combination should be monitored closely by your doctor.

If all three of the medications were all prescribed by the same doctor at the same time, you probably don't have much to worry about.

My guess is that one of your pain relievers is an extended release (most likely the morphine) that you take on a set schedule and that the other is to be used for break through pain as needed? Combining painkillers like this is relatively common.

If the lorazepam was a regular medication before your surgery, make sure to Ok it with your doctor before taking it.
